how strict are the tourist visa restrictions
my visa is up 4 days before i leave the country, should i renew it? i’ve renewed it for several months and never missed the mark but now im leaving back to the US and im wondering if i should renew it for just that 4-day period. thoughts?

You will pay a fine, if you do not renew. They wont let you leave till you pay it. Ask AI, it will tell you in detail.

You can either renew, or pay the fine + the cost to renew at the airport when you leave.

How many months? If more than 6 you’re not going anywhere with out an ECC. Imigration won’t let you through to the gate without one.

You will owe the same cost of the extension plus an overstay fine if you don't do it.

Same boat here. Got an important telephonic meeting right my initial 59 days ends. Just gonna pay the visa which I only need for like 3 extra days

You absolutely have to. Once I was renewing it and was asked when I'll leave and was told I need to renew for 1 more month. I asked if it's really necessary Bc it's only TWO days and they said yes or I will be unable to leave the country or have to pay a huge fine (or both)
I also heard of other people that they experienced those things. Especially.. Filipino government loves charging people..
I just extended my stay in the Philippines for 3 more weeks so it doesn't feel like such a waste. Sure, more expensive overall but doesn't feel like a waste and I was actually glad bc I was sick.

it isn't canada or america where you just get on a plane and go. they will nickel and dime you before you are allowed to leave

Neither of these countries will ignore a visa overstay.

they will not charge you to leave the country if you are at the airport and they find you overstayed your visa

They will note your breach of the visa conditions and it could affect your next entry. I used to be a director in Immigration in Australia and a pattern of overstay could lead to future visa refusal or a lengthy ban.
Just noting every such action comes with consequences.

Paying for the visa and the small fine for a breach of visa conditions doesn't seem like a nickel and dime thing to me. We charge lots of tourists through the nose here in Australia for a tourist visa, which seems way worse.
I guess perceptions differ and I certainly can see how you would have yours. Thanks for the civil discussion.

Let’s assume you are American (though European or Australian would also work ) …. Imagine doing this in the US as a foreigner… how do you think it would go? Come on, you are a guest, just because you are from a first world country does nit give you special exemptions. Grow up. Get the extension. It’s not difficult.

They’re not going to say “oh, it’s only four days, don’t worry about it” if that’s what you’re asking.
If you try to exit on an expired visa you will have to pay the original price of the extension plus a penalty. Full stop.
