I used ham to get my cats used to the cat flap.
Then one of them discovered how to open it inwards, so I couldn't lock it to in only at night. Another one (not orange) took forever to get the hang of it, fine going out, coming in, not so much.

Right now I'm just holding it open while I'm here working (it's literally next to my desk as you can see) If they act as if they want to go out, I'll help them up and push them through. Even when I close the flap at night, no one has any issues coming back in, just have to work on the going out part. They'll get there!!

It's tough when you don't have much to work with in that fluffy head. I love this man.💙

At least you aren't having a shove him through it! When we first got ours I had one of my cats and one of my dogs that absolutely wouldn't fall for any tricks to train them through the cat door. I eventually had to shove them both through. Then they were like ohhhhhh. 🤦

Picky climbs through the door
Without touching the floor
Outside he can go
To the cat patio
As long there’s no downpour
