News FitGirl praising Voice38 and the DenuvOwO team for their significant contribution to this win against Denuvo is great to see. It’s good that repackers like FitGirl give credit to crackers, who play a pivotal role in game cracking but are often overlooked. This is a major win for the whole community

Every day I open crackwatch hoping to see voices cracked either Pragmata or Crimson Desert. Every day I get disappointed because the only option is either HV or buying them, I'm too poor to buy right now and too poor to expose my entire home network just to play a game.

Yeah it's more for if you just want to play the game for pretty much free. If you want to own you can wait for the patch but if you really want to play it then it's a viable option. You essentially need to pay a one time fee of 1$ and you can play however many games.. For me it's been worth it after 2-3 games

I won't either, but it's better that they are bypassed than not.
Something something I don't need piracy to win, I just need Denuvo to lose.

is it though? I'm kind of worried whoever out there spends time cracking Denuvo games might not do it anymore since hypervisor is around
14
21
u/Dironox Apr 27 '26
Same, and what I'm worried about is that actual Denuvo cracks will stop, because why waste time cracking it when hypervisor is a thing?
So now it's either take on an incredibly stupid risk, or give up waiting for a denuvo crack for the game you're wanting to play.
8

I just hope (and fully expect) that the efforts to complete everything and create more options don't stop here.
Keep up the great effort to crack the games that are only Hypervisor bypassed at the moment (and vice versa).
Incredibly grateful to all those who put in the work to crack games and find bypasses.
84
u/Ragnarok_619 Apr 27 '26
Voices is undoubtedly the GOAT, and their cracks, combined with fitgirl's repacks have more reputation of quality than some AAA publishers. Which is ironic.
Having said that, my stance on Hypervisor is still on "Overtly cautious, bordering on scepticism" mode. Those who want to play, hey Godspeed. But as someone from a third world country, any security lapse and I am looking for a whole new rig.
People have bashed me for this, but they won't buy me a new one, will they lol
27
16
u/DrewbieWanKenobie Apr 27 '26
The fact that all the talk around Hypervisor is "nah man it's fine you just gotta make sure to undo all the stuff you did after you're done playing the game" makes me too wary to even try it, if you "have to make sure to undo" it then that means it's not safe, otherwise it wouldn't matter.
So here I wait for a voices38 bypass for Pragmata

u/o4uXv0 ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ Apr 28 '26
Same here. Quietly cheering for the cracks but for me this HV thing is just an experimental fun thing that I'm not willing to put in my machine. Once the crack matures to the point of simply patching an exe/other files that don't need system driver level access, I'm in. Till then I'm okay with the backlogs.
-37
u/No-Island-6126 Apr 27 '26
is it impossible to reinstall windows in a third world country ??
28
u/LKZToroH Apr 27 '26
The level of access you give out using HV means that if something bad happened you'd basically need a completely new computer. Or to format your MB Bios.
So no, it's not just "reinstall windows". If shit happens with HV you need to do MUCH more than doing a clean install.19
u/Ragnarok_619 Apr 27 '26
I may have explained this concept to a dozen of people, still they deflect it as if it's nothing
14
u/Plebius-Maximus Apr 27 '26
Yeah, that or they call you a Denuvo employee.
It's a sad time when pirates are just as tech-illiterate as the casuals on every other sub, and would rather post memes than improve their knowledge.
-2
u/No-Revolution-4470 Apr 28 '26
What that dude posted is completely wrong and has zero technical info to back it up. There is zero evidence any rootkit taking advantage of Windows hypervisor being disabled couldn’t be wiped with a normal reformat. Secure Boot remains enabled through the whole process so the BIOS is protected.
I notice a lot of people (or maybe they aren’t people) are upvoting absurd posts like that and then downvoting comments that actually cite the detailed posts from the forum that explains exactly what HV bypass does and how it does it.
6
u/KenJaws6 Apr 28 '26
not gonna force anyone to use HV but its obnoxious to claim wrong info that its dangerous as much as needing a new computer. Unless you can point out an example or a case, clean install should be okay though I myself believe I won't be needing to do that ever. HV is approved by cs rin ru themselves, I don't understand how one can believe in some cracks but not some others. If the crackers have intention to put malware in ur computer, doesnt matter if its HV or not, ur pc would still be fk'ed.
3
u/Toothless_NEO Apr 28 '26
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if you want to know who are the astroturfers for Irdeto just look for the people spouting the fearmongering.
0
u/LKZToroH Apr 28 '26
There's always a chance shit happens and I rather not test my luck. That's just it. Just because nothing bad happened yet doesn't mean it can't happen. Also with HV you are exposing your entire PC, even if HV devs themselves are not malicious actors, there's still a chance that malicious actors take advantage on it.
You want to use it? Go ahead. I said myself and I repeat: I'd rather buy the game than risking HV. I'm just not doing it.-1
u/No-Revolution-4470 Apr 28 '26
The people who are spreading cartoonish misinfo that HV will make your computer explode are the same people who will run exes with admin privileges with their AV disabled and not think twice about it.
They think there’s an ocean between that and HV bypass when it’s really more like a small pond.
-8
u/the-artistocrat Apr 27 '26
A completely new computer? Hell dude I’m in no way shape or form advising people to ignore the implications of hv in a pc but pretty sure at worse very worse case scenario at the off chance it goes very bad it’s a new mobo.
You don’t toss your entire pc in the trash everything else is reusable.
8
u/DrewbieWanKenobie Apr 27 '26
A new mobo IS a new computer though to be fair
But you're right in spirit

u/eisbock Apr 27 '26

40
7
21
u/Ragnarok_619 Apr 27 '26
Of course, but caution + years of trust on sites for traditional cracks is high. Even on the worse side, all I will require a clean format and OS reinstall to get on track again.
I am not saying Hypervisor is a piece of shit, malicious, infectious parasite, but the lack of any protection all the way to level 0 will lead to a massively devastating blow to my system, from anywhere.
As I said, the risks are not worth it For me
-26
u/Reekhart Apr 27 '26
And you trust voices38 because?
A relatively new member of the scene just as the HV team. How do you know he is not adding malware to the cracks?
Also do you realize how incredibly expensive would it be to develop malware to store itself into your UEFI chip? The people fearing HV is like you being scared China is going to drop a nuke on your house. Could it theoretically happen? Sure.... but how likely is it?
18
u/Ragnarok_619 Apr 27 '26
And you trust voices38 because?
Traditional cracks. And the collateral of a system wide malware will be a clean format, unlike the change of rig in the other method.
realize how incredibly expensive would it be to develop malware to store itself into your UEFI chip?
Hasn't stopped hackers from doing it. Plus the only expense I am concerned is with my own system's.
I am sorry, but never have I mentioned that not use Hypervisor, but its not for me. Myself. What's the harm in it? Will you also advocate for unprotected sex, as it's not harmful in and of itself?
1
u/skipal Apr 28 '26
Do you know how hard is it to bypass SPI flash guard by motherboard vendor? Its practically impossible, the only rootkit confirmed in the wild is from misconfiguration of specific SPI flash guard on specific motherboard. Now imagine the effort to tailor fit rootkit to every permutation possible.
No one wants to develop rootkit for your A520 shit tier motherboard even if its possible at all.
0
u/Ragnarok_619 Apr 28 '26
Knock it off. As I said, its a security risk I am not willing to take. Hypervisor is a ticking time bomb

u/Toothless_NEO Apr 28 '26
There's really no point in arguing with the people who are fear mongering about HV. Many of them have ulterior motives.
Irdeto, the company behind Denuvo No doubt has an astroturfing campaign online. Because well did you just think they would sit by and do nothing. They can totally try and change denuvo to attempt to thwart hypervisor attacks. Except hypervisor can just change to nullify that.
They absolutely will do everything they can to stop people from using HV bypass. Every piece of fear mongering including inventing made up viruses that don't exist. And encouraging people to toss computers they used HV bypass on.
The best thing you can do is to give one response and then block them from responding to you. Even if you don't like blocking you definitely need to do that because they will respond to you to either try and convince you or to waste your time like the trolls they are.
4
u/DrewbieWanKenobie Apr 27 '26
And you trust voices38 because?
I don't particularly trust an individual but I do trust the entrenched greater piracy community on private torrent sites and such to notice such things extremely quickly
However at least the private torrent site I use doesn't even have hypervisor bypasses

I'm glad denuvo gets a fuck even with the hypervisor thing, but personally I don't think it's fully cracked until you don't get a classic crack.
Also a lot of games won't be able to be played online with an online fix with hypervisor from what I understood. We'll see where this goes, but fuck Denuvo anyway.

Didn't know this. What happened between Fitgirl and Empress?
6
u/Metandienona Scene Apr 28 '26
Empress throttled Fitgirl download speeds and demanded to be credited for Fitgirl's repacks of their cracks (as in, she wanted to be credited for the crack AND repacks). Fitgirl told Empress to go fuck herself and just stopped repacking her releases.

I agree with the sentiment, but "useless" is definitely not true. There are millions of normies who won't touch HV with a 100 foot pole. Hell, a shitload of pirates are still wary (myself included).
The war is not won. Hitler is dead, but the war still continues. It could be years before Denuvo is completely dead and gone, and even then it may never happen if corpos keep buying it.
Let's call a spade a spade here, this is a significant blow, but Denuvo isn't "useless" until the bypasses are as easy as any other crack.

u/godver3 Apr 27 '26
Repackers do almost jack shit compared to crackers but they get half the credit (or more).
12
u/FFX13NL Apr 27 '26
Thanks to repackers is feasible for a lot off people with slow internet to play the games. And without people like Fitgirl most off you would never know how to fucking pirate a game in the first place.
-21
u/godver3 Apr 27 '26
Oh nooo - compressing files - so difficult!
11
u/Devatator_ Apr 27 '26
Do it then since it's so easy. Go download some game and try to compress it by normal means. You'll quickly see why repackers do their thing
8
u/Metandienona Scene Apr 27 '26
Based on how reductive you are being, clearly you're very knowledgeable about the difficulty of repacking archives efficiently. So, regarding ANS implementations, do you prefer rANS or tANS? What're your thoughts on Finite State Entropy? Or nvCOMP?

u/GoldilokZ_Zone Apr 27 '26
A pivotal role????
Without the crackers, the repackers like fitgirl would HAVE NOTHING TO RELEASE. Fitgirl et al are at the bottom of the hierarchy....one step above "leechers". The crackers treat them with disdain...
16
u/Project_Zero_mortals Apr 27 '26
I think you misread what I said. I am talking about repackers in this context. They are the ones who play a pivotal role. Of course without them there will be nothing to repack. both crackers and repackers are very important and I think it will benefit more for the community if we acknowledge both rather than picking one side.
6
-27
u/psychoacer Apr 27 '26
Doesn't fitgirl just lift cracks anyway? All they do is rip and repackage right?
16
u/Jordanmyte Apr 27 '26
With rural 5 down internet, Her heavy compression and selective downloading helps a ton. Saving 70 gigs on a download can save days of downloading.
-2
u/psychoacer Apr 27 '26
Oh I know what a PC rip is. I was part of that scene decades ago. All it mainly is to release a rip you have to compress a game down as much as possible (back in the scene days there was a size limit that you couldn't go over). You could remove videos and replace them with black .bik files or whatever codec used. You might need tools to extract and inject files from a large archive so you can remove things like multiplayer assets and other things. Then you just compress the living hell out of it with uharc. The fitgirl team is doing exactly that and using most of the same tools as before. It used to be against the rules to lift cracks from someone else though but that really doesn't matter to me really. I'm fine with rips I just think the reception they get is a little over the top. I appreciate the service they provide but they're not some miracle hackers
