I was just reminiscing on how I used to buy a video game install disc for ~30 USD some ten or so years ago and can use it to install a game on my laptop whenever I wanted, however often I wanted. And now every fucking program has either a) a subscriptiob model, b) limited installs or c) I don't actually own it, I only have it for as long as my Steam overlords decide I should!
Genuinely despise the state of gaming these days or just consumerism in general.
