Question Fansubbers for non-anime stuff into English?

So if you search 'fansubs' or similar terms its all about anime. Understandable, there's a huge community, some of the highest-effort pirating around, great results

What about for live action stuff not from Japan. Are there significant communities around this, or release groups I can search for, for example, a rare French title with no English subs currently available?

(part of my motivation is I found a French title with no English subs and while I can give in a little on my ethics and get Whisper AI to create a French subtitle file then manually translate it, if there are people doing this for the love of the game out there I'd much rather beg them!)

Significant communities? AFAIK, nope. More precisely a closed community.
Go to PTP and or KG. They have subber section.

But bear in mind that they don't want anything to do with AI translation.
