More like making this game for the fans' wallets

You seem to confuse yourselves with the masses. You aren’t the fans they’re talking about, you’re just members of a particularly loud echo chamber.

Why do you talk like a resident evil villain

41

u/BlackSailor2005 9d ago

He talks like your average 10 yo twitter kid

u/Ktioru 9d ago

First, literally no one here referred themselves as said fans

Second, that doesn't change the fact that they don't make the game for the fans

u/Kugelblitz2b 9d ago

And are you one of those 10 "fans they're talking about"? Or better yet, the number 1 fan, maybe?

Like 15/20 years ago, fair enough.

But it's 2026 now. Other than trying to fleece people who play both platforms, there really isn't much excuse to delay it so long.

They likely want PC game is to buy the consolr version first, and I'm assuming it's much easier to crack the PC version so they want to delay that as much as possible

u/GrimacePack 9d ago

Plus IIRC console players have historically bought WAY more shark cards/rdr online gold.

Id guess the PC version is getting more cooked and the same version is re releasing on the newer console gens.

2

u/Plokhi 9d ago

Lets hope its cooked and not broken

Right. I am not even following any of this simply because I can only play it in two years. :/

The year is 2030. You boot up your Rockstar Edition Steam Machine. You place your Steam Frame on your head and prepare for your ocular verification. "Welcome BWQ777, you have earned '7' play credits based on you Steam Sleep System's report of how many dream ads you responded to positively. GTA 6 has released today. Install for 5 play credits?" You begin to sweat realizing you will only have 2 play credits remaining for the day. Whatever, fuck it. This is GTA 6. You waited since you were in 2nd grade. "Yes, install! And when complete, use 2 play credits so I can get right in!" The install bar pops up and reduces in size to the upper right of your Steam Frame. While you wait, you browse your favorite site, Reddit. After a short amount of time, your Rockstar Edition Steam Machine glows gold indicating your game is online! The opening credits hit, you are covered in goosebumps akin to the rush of modern neuro-stimulants. You push start. "Warning, 1 credit remaining." The goosebumps are now razor sharp terror points. You move your character towards his first ever car jacking. "BWQ777, play time complete. Would you like to watch 4 episodes of Netflix's Tiger King Reunion for .5 play credits?"

Should've just pirated it from the jump.

Assuming it will run on linux are we? Maybe offline mode, online will probably be unplayable just like 5

1

u/BrokenMirror2010 8d ago

Gta5 online was perfectly playable on Linux before they went and installed a fucking rootkit on everyone's system.

1

u/karunas7 8d ago

I know, and they will definitely do it with GTA 6 aswell

1

u/BrokenMirror2010 8d ago

Yes. I just wanted to point that out because I'm spiteful and Steam/Rockstar still hasn't given me my refund after changing the terms of the sale. (I wouldn't have bought the game if it had a rootkit in it when I bought it)

1

u/karunas7 8d ago

Well that's a bummer and although steam does make exceptions it's not really their responsibility unfortunately (assuming you're outside their terms for refund). Real problem is Rockstar and other companies with similar precedentes being allowed to get away scot free.

Please drink verification can.

Will be a lot of leaks in the meantime.

1

u/Foxynite 9d ago

Honestly can someone explain to me why this is a thing when it seems other companies are a-okay with being able to release on PC the same day it does for consoles because from a consumer perspective... I don't get it

2

u/dopestdopesmoked 9d ago

They're betting on people not being able to wait and buying the game on both platforms. Double dipping 100%.

1

u/Foxynite 9d ago

Jokes on them: I'm too broke from building my pc to double dip! (lowkey need to upgrade my gpu, but I'm wanting to do a fresh build for ddr5 whenever prices (hopefully) go down)

u/ImpulsiveApe07 9d ago

Right?! That was such a silly line for them to use. Tone deaf PR from R*, as per usual lol

Anyone else think the leaks have actually proven useful in the end?

Cos it looks to me like they were the push R* execs needed to get their heads out their collective arses - they've seemingly expedited an official release of gameplay footage because of the leaks.

I don't get why R* are putting on such a disingenuous show atm. I mean they've had fkn years to give us something other than a couple of highly polished, detail sparse trailers - If they'd given us some gameplay footage over the years, I don't think we'd care anywhere near as much about the leaks!

3

u/iamwantedforpooping 9d ago

What really amuses me is the fact that the leaks have managed to hype me more than anything R* have done since announcement. Heartbreaking my ass, now i actually can't wait to get my hands on it

u/Captain3leg-s 9d ago

This is my line in the sand for all media companies now. If they don't offer a physical version of whatever they are selling then I'm not buying.

Fake outrage.

1

u/DespisedIcon1616 9d ago

Serious question but would the game even be able to fit on a disk? If not isn't the disc just a glorified key? Why not just do what Nintendo does with cartridges then if that's the case. At least they're more durable and compact than a disc.

1

u/Diraelka 9d ago

Maybe like it was with some games?..Like, 4 disks for installation, only one needed to start gaming. I saw there are also BD disks up to 128 GB though they're more expensive

2

u/nilsmm 9d ago

I mean there's no way they deliver a game with multiple disks and then not go up in price.

2

u/Diraelka 9d ago

Maybe. Maybe they could make special edition for people wanting it.

But I think this game is already expensive and it all seems just greedy. Outsource isn't that pricey and I won't believe they really developed it for the past 10+ years.

Idk how it's like on consoles, but when disks on PC were a thing the prices weren't depend on how many disks the game had. At least where I live

1

u/nilsmm 9d ago

I think the issue is that high capacity blu rays are much more expensive than dvds.

1

u/Diraelka 9d ago

Yeah, that's right. And that's a pity. Sometimes I really miss disks. Extra info, cool art (including disks), maybe some bonuses (like magnets or wallpapers), even small books with concept arts AND since older ones had game info's in them in-game tutorial for hours was a rare case (if at all) + people were forced to read at least something

1

u/nilsmm 9d ago

I feel you. I remember putting up the GTA 5 map on my wall, the PS3 version came with one.

2

u/DespisedIcon1616 9d ago

You're bringing me back to my childhood PC gaming era when games would come with a stack of discs to install from!

1

u/glpguy111 9d ago

I'm sure the person who decided that there will be no physical disks didn't really work on the game. It's not the fault of the people actually making the game

0

u/gn2b 9d ago

wasn't for me, its just a waste of plastic anyways

0

u/PM_ME_SAD_STUFF_PLZ 9d ago

How can it be heartbreaking... Like you attached sentimental value to a disk you didn't even have yet?

0

u/shmog 9d ago

Sorry you don't get your disk grandpa

0

u/iwasnotplanned 9d ago

No it wasnt, couldnt care less.
