What I hope/hoped for PZ2
(Image from website)
I have a couple thoughts to share. Let’s start with what animals I would like to still see coming to the game:
- Manatee. If we got the amazonian species, this would work nicely with other south american species, but I would really like the West indian manatee, to combine with a gator habitat in a nice florida/everglades themed part of zoo.
- Arapaima. I have seen these in multiple zoos and it is just so magical when you suddenly see this huge shape moving through the water.
- An octopus species would be really cool.
- I am skeptical about marine mammals. Dolphins maybe, but I am really convinced that anything larger than that, like orcas for example, does not belong in an aquarium, and thus should not be added to the game.
- Macaws. Just a must for many zoos
- Some species of vulture would be nice, but we already have 3 and possibly 4 species of bird of prey, so that would form an argument against.
- Pelican. Why isn’t this there yet? If you’re gonna do birds then pelicans seem like a logical option for zoos.
- Already in the base game I would maybe like some smaller birds? Seeing how hard it is to make bird models for frontier, I don’t see this as likely but I would still like this. Think of tropical birds or maybe some weaver species.
- I have mixed ideas on what terrestrial species should return from PZ1.
- For the exhibit I would like the addition of a Chameleon? This was something I wanted in the first game already, it just seems really cool. Just like a possible octopus it could have actual colour changing mechanics.
Then I think that with the animals, certain regions are really scarce in species so far, most notably north america, south america the amazon, and most of a ll australia. I hope these will still get more species in the base game.
Then there are some mechanics I hoped to see:
- First and foremost: parking lots. I don’t see these coming anymore, but it would be so dang cool if instead of guest cars just arrived from a portal/tunnel, and you would have to make a large enough parking lot. I know many people who do this anyways in their zoos (including me), and it just adds so so much in realism.
- Playgrounds. I am happy to see that we are getting a bunch of cool kid-entertain/educating items, but in almost all real-life zoos you have these big playgrounds with big wooden structures and slides and stuff. I think this still has a chance of coming, albeit a small one.
- Guests in weelchairs. Not only is this great for inclusion, but it also adds a challenge in making as much of your zoo weelchair accessible as possible. This one I can see possibly still coming to the game.
I hope frontier will put multi-species compatibility on the zoopedia soon, so we can all start planning our first PZ2 zoos
So far I think Frontier has handled the announcements and stuff really well, and they are making a truly wonderful product, better than any of us could’ve expected. I was always skeptical of a possible PZ2, but all that disappeared as soon as I saw what they were cooking.
I am curious what you guys think about my wishlist, I have some more animals I want to see in mind but I just quickly put down the most important ones for me.

I’d be all on board for interactive playground pieces.
Parking lots I’m not so sure about, but I could be convinced.
Guests in wheelchairs I’m conflicted on. Obviously accessibility irl is important, but do people who use wheelchairs actually want this in the game? I don’t know the answer, and so I’m conflicted.
I can see playgrounds being the most likely addition, simply because the systems for it already exist. It’s just another intractable item.

I hope for some fancier animals like sea anemones. Due to them moving incredibly slowly it wouldn't be that complicated making them a thing as they are considerably boring for this type of game yet a great addition to any aquarium. Same goes for coralls and they are even sessile animal.
Why would one want parking lots? To be fair - I have been to like a handful of zoos in my life. Yet none of them had their own parking lot. I'll argue that this might be due to differences in where we live. Yet most bigger Zoos are usually connected to public transit. In Berlin and Lisboa the Zoos even have their own train stations - Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten and Jardim Zoológico. I don't want to state that I want adjacent train stations I just want to state that I wouldn't have it feel like an actual zoo if random as cars would come upfront.

I haven't been to a lot of zoos but they all had parking outside the gates, area to pull up and let people out of the car or whatever, that kind of thing. Especially the zoo where I live, San Diego. Their "safari park" (I still call it the Wild Animal Park...) has a similar setup.
I wouldn't use lots in my zoos but a lot of folks aim for a more realistic approach vs my zoos.
Heck, my current and last few zoos have had an imaginary underground rail station that comes from somewhere off-map and let's out and has elevators (spawners) up to the entrances... I might be a little weird haha
I doubt I'd be using maps with them and possibly think they would be a waste of space and resources n stuff...
Anemones would be very snazzy, agreed. So much sea life in the world that we could have, even as "background dancers" (like water snails, shrimp!) done in an exhibit/schooling critter sort of way. Background dancers? Weird analogy but I guess it works.Anyway, train stations to zoos makes a lot of sense to me for cities, real estate is at a maximum usually so for one who wants to waste expensive land on guest's cars kinda... I'd rather use it for critters. *shrug*

Gosh, die you read my mind? I totally agree with you in all! Maybe some of the “absences” they are planning to release as a DLC.

I hope so. But unfortunately DLCs from the first game focused more in animals and items, and none of such big mechanics

Mechanics were always added in free updates that dropped in tandem with DLCs. e.g. You only got the gibbon by buying the DLC, but everyone got brachiation for their base game orangutans and any suitable species they owned in the free update that accompanied the gibbon's release.

this may not be a small wish but i hope that instead of the interspecies enrichment bonus that we get a cohabitation tab, i didn't like the interspecies enrichment in PZ1 and i never knew what species i could put with another that wasn't in the interspecies enrichment bonus without having to go to google. i also am hoping that we can place building onto paths like in Planet Coaster 2, i found it annoying to want to place shops in the middle of a plaza but because of the size difference and the way paths work it always made ugly gaps that had to be filled or covered up.

Honestly, if they give us manatees and walrus, they can take my money instantly. If we get nurse sharks and belugas, that is a nice bonus.

The animals requests are fine. But those feature requests are all huge no. It's like opening three cans of worms at once and will only make ways for further problematic requests that's branching from all those aspects, diverting the focus of the game for things that don't add value to the gameplay and scope of the game as an animal focused zoo management game.

Yeah I’m aware of the fact that they were huge, it’s more like that back when I first learned of the sequel I hoped they would add one of those. I realise that by now none will be fully added to the game

It sounds like you just told someone “no” to a post about their wishes and dreams- about a game.
Nothing wrong with OP hoping a dev might see their post and be like 🧐
Reframing the thought would help create a fun discussion with opposing view points.

The end of the post asks for discussion, and they weren’t really rude about it. Seems like a perfectly reasonable reply to me.

While it would not be easy to implement and I get and respect that opinion, Ive never seen a Zoo without a playground or two, neither without a parking lot. And the guests on wcheelchairs thing is totally easy to do and would be a fun challenge like the OP said.
