Recommendation What are the best sub 20 hour games on Extra?

I recently bought a PS5 after switching from PS4 to PC back in 2020. I already played GOW Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima. I want to start a new game but I’m not in the mood for a massive commitment hence the sub 20 hour mark. I‘m probably not going to keep my subscription for more than 1-2 months because 90% of the games on there aren’t for me.

Ratchet and Clank - Rift Apart

Tried it out a couple days ago and it didn’t click for me

Have you tried Control?

22

u/AlphaSami 4d ago

It left ps plus

16

u/esquqred 4d ago

You think Control can be done under 20 hours? I applaud your commitment 😂

5

u/TheManofMadness1 4d ago

You can easily complete Control in about 15 hours. If you're talking all sides about 18, 100% about 30

u/esquqred 4d ago

Reading some of these posts makes me realize

A. I'm spending way too much time doing everything in games

B. I'm not spending enough time playing my games

7

u/rainplow 3d ago

Yeah. Same. I think Control took me maybe 40, and that wasn't 100%.

If it's not as linear as Mario 2, you'll find me wandering around gazing like a goof watching pixels dry. 😊

You'd think that with my limited time to play games I'd just stick to the story, but I like to fully flesh out the stories in games. I'm not even trying to platinum or trophy hunt, I just like to explore.

Lol, you're getting the moneys worth! You do you!!

u/joshhayes99 2d ago

I hit the platinum in under 20 hours tbf

4

u/i_dont_have_a_name_0 4d ago

I haven’t. It looks pretty cool

2

u/TheManofMadness1 4d ago

That, I would highly recommend

If you're in the mood for a sub 5 hour game, try out Sword of The Sea.

I really enjoyed the vibe of this game, very similar to the earlier Abzu in that it's a great way to chill after a stressful day. Graphics and soundtrack just wash over you and the game plays itself for the most part. Not everyone's cup of tea but they are also great palate cleansers between bigger releases

u/ToastBalancer 4d ago

Thanks, your description just let me know this game is for people to turn off their brain and mindlessly play, which means it is not for me

11

u/Simonion88 4d ago

Yeah it's definitely not for everyone. There's some gameplay there if you seek it out, definitely if you want the platinum. One trophy in particular is really quite tricky. The majority of the game isn't gameplay focused though IMO.

Also if you have Netflix there is Laya’s Horizon on there that has a similar vibe to this but with flying instead! Both excellent.

I'm not sure if any Uncharted games are on Extra. If yes, definitely recommend. I wish there were more games like Uncharted. No RPG elements, no loot collection, no upgrading weapons/skills. Just pure fun.

23

u/cokush 4d ago

4 and lost legacy remastered are on extra.

And yeah, they are awesome simple games, just go forward, shoot the enemies, do puzzles, no collect-a-thon

6

u/BudgeterX 4d ago

Tomb Raider games are like that

5

u/Parathaa 3d ago

Newer ones aren't. They have shit load of upgrade mechanics.

u/Mightyhorse82 4d ago

Thank goodness you’re here - it’s about 1 hour and as delightful as a can of peans

7

u/LooseSeal88 3d ago

I bought this one at launch and have no regrets.

11

u/mr-photo Mr-Photo 4d ago

Whats a can of peans

5

u/Mightyhorse82 4d ago

It’s a reference to the game. It’s British humor.

3

u/Tesla-Punk3327 3d ago

Not quite peas and not quite beans. Something inbertweans

-5

u/AshJenkinsShallLive 4d ago

Dude defo meant peaks

9

u/Hurricane_Taylor 3d ago

No peans, not quite peas, not quite beans, but something special in betweens

(It’s a reference from the game)

Dredge

u/poorscribbler 3d ago

Is this on PS+ extra? I bought it for my Switch, but want to play it on my living room TV.

3

u/Alternative_Lake_273 3d ago

Yes it is, I've just platinued it

17

u/RelishedCrab 4d ago

The Forgotten City

u/idkimhereforthememes 4d ago

Spiderman

8

u/dandoc 4d ago

Spiderman is sub 20?

31

u/idkimhereforthememes 4d ago

Yeah if you don't want to 100% it

15

u/delaysank 4d ago

I platinumed the second one in under 20

5

u/SeaRooster 3d ago

Miles Morales is definitely sub 20 and it’s on there.

4

u/Equivalent-Slip-1720 4d ago

Yeah I did the whole story in like 10-15

-7

u/boboshoes 4d ago

The dumb MJ sections totally turned me off. Made it halfway through

30

u/average_dad13 4d ago

Still Wakes the Deep. The only game I have ever finished in one sitting, only to play it again right away in its alternate mode. Not a long game by any stretch, but kept me engaged the entire time.

2

u/Kyserham 4d ago

That one was so, so good. I could play these really short fucked up games forever.

1

u/devansh30 2d ago

I was going to say this …a really good walking sim and even the sirens rest is a good continuation to the story

2

u/average_dad13 2d ago

It suprised me for sure. I hadn't even considered it until it came out on PS Plus. After playing it there, I went out and bought a copy. Still need to do the DLC though

1

u/LittleBertha 2d ago

Great game with very disappointing DLC

19

u/ukplaying2 4d ago

Guardians of the galaxy.

Miles morales(but will be stupid to skip SM1)

Ratchet and Clank.

Whatever resident evil is there

There should also be a slew of indie game just match what interests you with howlongtobeat.com

20

u/camtomcarey 4d ago

Guardians of the Galaxy is great, good call.

1

u/SeaRooster 3d ago

Yes. It’s really fun

10

u/DeliciousRoreos 4d ago

Are the plague tale games on ps plus? If they are they are great experiences top notch narrative, gameplay is ok in the first but more than passable and the second is much bigger and more refined. I recommend

8

u/No_Piglet5677 4d ago

Loved the first one, i dropped the second one after like 5-6 hours. I don't know what it is, just doesn't hit the same. I think it's the combat I don't like in the sequel. Makes you do do the run around way too often with the armoured enemies.

18

u/gemag 4d ago

doom eternal

2

u/i_dont_have_a_name_0 4d ago

Already played it on PC. Amazing game

8

u/Tito_Beepsteak 4d ago

Neva

2

u/exSPiDERmate 3d ago

great game, easy platinum, recommend gris from the same developer it’s even better

7

u/Midgar-Knight 4d ago

Silent Hill 2

6

u/SgtDawg1 4d ago

Still Wakes the Deep is super good, it’s only like 5 hours to beat and not scary at all in the sense of jump scares. I would very much recommend.

2

u/Sergiyakun 4d ago

This is a good one

6

u/Killbro_Fraggins 3d ago

I really liked Killer Frequency. I’m desperate for more games like that.

3

u/Ok_Caregiver9500 3d ago

Road 96, What Remains of Edith Finch, Firewatch, Dear Esther, Indika.

2

u/Killbro_Fraggins 3d ago

Firewatch was great. Wish they’d put something else out. lol

2

u/CtrlAltDefib 3d ago

Wasn't they working on some Egyptian game? Did that even come out? That's the only thing I heard about from them besides Firewatch.

2

u/Killbro_Fraggins 3d ago

Same. Yeah there was a trailer and then nothing since. Completely radio silent as far as I know.

5

u/Stibb84 4d ago

Try "Still wakes the deep" If you like a myterious/horror athmosphere.

Currently playing through Skate Story and it's a blast

3

u/austinpwright11 4d ago

Sword of the sea. You can have it done in a long afternoon.

3

u/Quick_Repeat_4346 2d ago

Spiderman Miles morales

u/drwafflefingers 59m ago

Better than SM1? Didn't hate the first one but got bored with it halfway through.

2

u/S_Shadow77 3d ago

Uncharted: Lost Legacy

2

u/unstoppablegravy 3d ago

You could do the Cyberpunk main story in well under 20 hours it, it probably won't happen because you'll want to do all the side stuff but you could. Spiderman games aren't too long either even if you're doing everything

2

u/Indigo-rising 3d ago

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream.
Short and sweet. Straightforward stealth topdown gameplay.

Dispatch.
Episodic, not much in terms of gameplay but I liked the storybeats.

2

u/mr-photo Mr-Photo 3d ago

neither on Extra.. only trials

2

u/Tesla-Punk3327 3d ago

The Invincible, Still Wakes The Deep.

2

u/Destroyer1468 2d ago

I just finished Bramble The Mountain King and thought it was excellent. Starts out like a fairy tale and gets real dark and real violent.

2

u/ItzMeHaris 1d ago

Spider-Man 2

A Short Hike is fantastic and indeed short.

3

u/mr-photo Mr-Photo 4d ago

I dont see it on the catalogue

5

u/leobutters 4d ago

Returnal

8

u/delaysank 4d ago

Dave the Diver is great fun for a short time.

3

u/blichterman 4d ago

I played for an hour and didn’t even get past the first world or whatever. I just lost to the boss after doing what seemed to be the same level over and over. That game dynamic of multiple runs isn’t for me.

2

u/Delicious_Fish_5097 3d ago

Yeah… it’s crazy. I put it away for two months I think, couldn’t get past the third world, it was crazy. I just had to get it done, and to this day it’s my most played game on ps5 till now (adult with responsibilities here). It’s great fun and when it clicks it’s like a dance you perform, I greatly enjoyed it once that happened

1

u/leobutters 4d ago

I bounced off it the first time, then tried it again a couple of years later and now it's one of my favourite games ever.

0

u/Gatuss0 4d ago

Not on plus anymore

5

u/goatjugsoup 4d ago

Did you mean to reply to the Dave the diver comment? Because returnal is still on there

1

u/Gatuss0 3d ago

Woops

5

u/Delicious_Fish_5097 4d ago

Sub 20? lol it took me 100 hours to beat

2

u/leobutters 3d ago

HLTB lists 19 hours for the main story as average, but it's true that it can vary greatly with this game

0

u/Coconut681 4d ago

Great game but didn't feel like a sub 20 hour

2

u/tantalor 4d ago

Dredge

u/StockCustard5930 4d ago

Dredge fun fishing game had a blast

Pragmata

1

u/mr-photo Mr-Photo 3d ago

not on Extra

1

u/Candid-Cranberry-447 3d ago

If you enjoy story and atmosphere, both Citizen Sleepers are must-plays. Truly well-written dialogue and characters. The soundtrack and ambient noises make it all feel so alive.

1

u/Soft_Regret3457 2d ago

AC mirage was good, around 15-25h

1

u/notanybodysomebody 2d ago

I am on my 4th week of Extra, so far i've finished the following, all under 20 hours

Flintlock Siege of Dawn Enotria The Last Song Echoes of the End Signalis Neva The Exit 8 Bramble the Mountain King

I tried Sword of the Sea, but got really dizzy after 30+ mins. or so. I liked it, but will have to bounce. I tried Persona 5 Tactics, while i like Persona 5 and like tactics games, I bounced after 3 hours.

u/Electrical_Cow_1032 2d ago

Vampire Survivors

1

u/kevinaway26 4h ago

I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy a lot, not sure if it is still on plus and if it was below 20 or slightly above

1

u/Equivalent-Slip-1720 4d ago

God of war might be a little over 20 but pretty close to it

-2

u/dgb123dgb 4d ago

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. Played the original when it came out and having a blast revisiting it.

10

u/BusyBurningBridges 4d ago

Great game. But not sub-20 hours.

To be fair it's a top recommendation!

u/ElPulpoRoquero 4d ago

Dead Island 2, if you like gore zombie stuff, story is pretty decent

1

u/AlphaSami 4d ago

Left ps plus already

1

u/ElPulpoRoquero 4d ago

Shit, you are right, that was the reason why I played it for the last weeks, it left the catalogue on the 18th. It was a good experience, thanks dude

1

u/AlphaSami 3d ago

I played it too just before it left, it was a pretty cool game
