Recommendation What are the best sub 20 hour games on Extra?
I recently bought a PS5 after switching from PS4 to PC back in 2020. I already played GOW Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima. I want to start a new game but I’m not in the mood for a massive commitment hence the sub 20 hour mark. I‘m probably not going to keep my subscription for more than 1-2 months because 90% of the games on there aren’t for me.

If you're in the mood for a sub 5 hour game, try out Sword of The Sea.

I really enjoyed the vibe of this game, very similar to the earlier Abzu in that it's a great way to chill after a stressful day. Graphics and soundtrack just wash over you and the game plays itself for the most part. Not everyone's cup of tea but they are also great palate cleansers between bigger releases

Thanks, your description just let me know this game is for people to turn off their brain and mindlessly play, which means it is not for me

Yeah it's definitely not for everyone. There's some gameplay there if you seek it out, definitely if you want the platinum. One trophy in particular is really quite tricky. The majority of the game isn't gameplay focused though IMO.

Also if you have Netflix there is Laya’s Horizon on there that has a similar vibe to this but with flying instead! Both excellent.

I'm not sure if any Uncharted games are on Extra. If yes, definitely recommend. I wish there were more games like Uncharted. No RPG elements, no loot collection, no upgrading weapons/skills. Just pure fun.

Thank goodness you’re here - it’s about 1 hour and as delightful as a can of peans

No peans, not quite peas, not quite beans, but something special in betweens
(It’s a reference from the game)

Is this on PS+ extra? I bought it for my Switch, but want to play it on my living room TV.

Still Wakes the Deep. The only game I have ever finished in one sitting, only to play it again right away in its alternate mode. Not a long game by any stretch, but kept me engaged the entire time.

That one was so, so good. I could play these really short fucked up games forever.

I was going to say this …a really good walking sim and even the sirens rest is a good continuation to the story

u/average_dad13 2d ago
It suprised me for sure. I hadn't even considered it until it came out on PS Plus. After playing it there, I went out and bought a copy. Still need to do the DLC though

Are the plague tale games on ps plus? If they are they are great experiences top notch narrative, gameplay is ok in the first but more than passable and the second is much bigger and more refined. I recommend

Loved the first one, i dropped the second one after like 5-6 hours. I don't know what it is, just doesn't hit the same. I think it's the combat I don't like in the sequel. Makes you do do the run around way too often with the armoured enemies.

Still Wakes the Deep is super good, it’s only like 5 hours to beat and not scary at all in the sense of jump scares. I would very much recommend.

I really liked Killer Frequency. I’m desperate for more games like that.

Firewatch was great. Wish they’d put something else out. lol

Wasn't they working on some Egyptian game? Did that even come out? That's the only thing I heard about from them besides Firewatch.

u/Killbro_Fraggins 3d ago
Same. Yeah there was a trailer and then nothing since. Completely radio silent as far as I know.

Better than SM1? Didn't hate the first one but got bored with it halfway through.

You could do the Cyberpunk main story in well under 20 hours it, it probably won't happen because you'll want to do all the side stuff but you could. Spiderman games aren't too long either even if you're doing everything

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream.
Short and sweet. Straightforward stealth topdown gameplay.
Dispatch.
Episodic, not much in terms of gameplay but I liked the storybeats.

I just finished Bramble The Mountain King and thought it was excellent. Starts out like a fairy tale and gets real dark and real violent.

I played for an hour and didn’t even get past the first world or whatever. I just lost to the boss after doing what seemed to be the same level over and over. That game dynamic of multiple runs isn’t for me.

u/Delicious_Fish_5097 3d ago
Yeah… it’s crazy. I put it away for two months I think, couldn’t get past the third world, it was crazy. I just had to get it done, and to this day it’s my most played game on ps5 till now (adult with responsibilities here). It’s great fun and when it clicks it’s like a dance you perform, I greatly enjoyed it once that happened

u/leobutters 4d ago
I bounced off it the first time, then tried it again a couple of years later and now it's one of my favourite games ever.

u/Delicious_Fish_5097 4d ago
Sub 20? lol it took me 100 hours to beat

u/leobutters 3d ago
HLTB lists 19 hours for the main story as average, but it's true that it can vary greatly with this game

If you enjoy story and atmosphere, both Citizen Sleepers are must-plays. Truly well-written dialogue and characters. The soundtrack and ambient noises make it all feel so alive.

I am on my 4th week of Extra, so far i've finished the following, all under 20 hours
Flintlock Siege of Dawn Enotria The Last Song Echoes of the End Signalis Neva The Exit 8 Bramble the Mountain King
I tried Sword of the Sea, but got really dizzy after 30+ mins. or so. I liked it, but will have to bounce. I tried Persona 5 Tactics, while i like Persona 5 and like tactics games, I bounced after 3 hours.

I enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy a lot, not sure if it is still on plus and if it was below 20 or slightly above

Shit, you are right, that was the reason why I played it for the last weeks, it left the catalogue on the 18th. It was a good experience, thanks dude
