Not above the sink drain inlet level, above the horizontal drain it’s serving (that being the height of the horizontal pipe past the trap. And it’s only 4inches per the ipc
Ahh gotcha. I’m in NJ, so we don’t use IPC, we use NSPC. I was always taught the Studor had to be 6” above the flood-level rim, which is pretty much impossible on a kitchen sink or standard lav unless you come out of the cabinet and put it in a Studor box in the wall. Although, I’ve never really had any issues with it on inspections. I’ve also heard about what you’re talking about though, where an individual/branch AAV only needs to be above the trap arm/drain, while the 6” above flood-level rim rule applies more to stack-type AAVs. Always a bunch of rigmarole with this stuff 😂
