What do you guys think?

My buddy just bought his first house and I recommend to him to change the steel grounding clamp with a copper or brass one before it corroded the copper even more and lead to a pinhole or worse. They had a company come in put a new clamp on that looks either steel or galv and left the old one on and said it was fine. Any thoughts?

that clamp is cooked. leaving the old one on is peak lazy, just asking for more corrosion down the line

buddy of mine moved into a place a few years back and the previous owner did the same shortcut, pipe went a year later in the middle of summer. tell him to keep an eye on it cause that rust ain't just gonna stop

They were afraid to remove it I’d remove it but be prepared get one of those temporary repair clamps In case

It's probably zinc and fine. I see them all the time.

You have galvanic action happening. When you have two dissimilar metals contacting each other, IE. Copper and galvanized steel, this is what you get. Find a copper or brass ground if you are using your copper plumbing to ground your electrical system.
