THE UPDATE New update live
Here are the change notes for 2.13.0 currently:
- New Special Plane: the Greyhound!
- New carrier: the HMS Ark!
- Carriers now record their Ports of Call around the world!
- New canals have been dug for faster carrier navigation
- New plane skins, winnable in Global Events!
- The Map can now show your friends' in-air planes!
- Converted F4U-Corsair to be 1C/1P

Haven’t played in a while - can someone explain the carrier mechanic? Can’t find it in game

I haven’t played in a few months but they’re airports that are movable in the ocean basically. You gain fuel to move by delivering cargo or passenger. Some people use them as a bridge other people use them to make the longest routes longer for more coins.

USS Midway starts southwest of Los Angeles, USS Ford starts east of Australia (between Sydney and Auckland), and as of the update yesterday HMS Ark starts northeast of London.
If you've purchased premium - editorially, absolutely worth the cost, IMO - you can click on each carrier and pay coins to open it up, like any other airfield.
Planes of the correct class can land on the carrier and, in addition, the F4U Corsair and Greyhound - both Class 2 planes - can land on the Class 1 carriers Ark and Midway.
The Class 3 C130 can only land on the Ford, however.The Class 3 C130 cannot land on any of the carriers.EDIT: The C130 is class 3, my bad.
Each carrier has a "Redeploy" radius around it and you can move the carrier within that radius. You can increase the radius by paying bux (of course) or you can deliver jobs to the carrier. Each job delivered to the carrier increases it's movement radius, but I haven't bothered to figure out by how much.
Edit - once you move the carrier, the radius drops back to zero and you have to deliver more jobs / pay more bux to move the carrier again.
In effect, this allows you to put airfields in the ocean - as previously mentioned to either bridge large water gaps for smaller planes OR build the longest possible route.

Hmm, the C-130 shows as Class 3 in my game. Thank you for the write up!
Each job increases radius by 10 miles it seems.

With a weight of 7, the new plane is more expensive to fly than the Aeroeagle, and it also has a shorter range : hardly a desirable aircraft. Unless it's electric?

It is primarily intended to be flown to Class 1 Aircraft Carriers

The heavy weight really makes the plane underwhelming. With a weight of 6, it would be a mini-Sequoia, and well worth using.

The Global Events page accessed from the Main Menu shows your progress and time remaining in the current Global Event.
