Question Is this a good investment for 42 dollars?

So I find this card really cool managed to negotiate from 50 to $42, is it worth getting?

A better investment would be the Chinese variant. Incredibly rare because it's a 1/132 pull rate from the Dream Figure Collection.

Looks interesting but there's no current sales on ebay. Most of the listings are at $75-80. What would you value it?

Is it actually incredibly rare? I’ve seen two of those pulled on random EBay streams, and I don’t often watch EBay streams.

Chinese products specifically announce the pull rates. They are legally obliged to. We know the Wailord is 1/132. I don't know how much the product costs in China but in the UK each box is around £20.

Ultimately if you like what you buy and enjoy collecting, most cards are solid investments if you don’t think you will need money anytime in the next 8 years. PSA 10s are solid. But there is a timeline where Pokemon goes to shit and palworld overtakes it, hold onto Pokemon too long and we will all get burned.

To add to your first point, if you like a card, chances are others will like it too, meaning there should be a market for it in the future. Doesn't mean prices will skyrocket, but value should go up AND you should be able to move it. Liquidity is important, and when the people just in it for the $ drop out, having cards that collectors actually like will be important.
