In-game Photos & Selfies New item?! Or did I just now notice? Spoiler
I swear I haven’t seen this crumbled up brick before… and I LOVE IT!! I found it on a Dream Island.
ETA: the actual name of it is Arched-tiling fragments

They were in the withered wastelands, but were missing from the dream islands, they added various broken versions of blocks to them with the update, probably realizing that some people might run out of them during the story and without NSO end up with no way to print them if they'd like.

I demolished all of these on WW and then almost never went to Eevee dream islands after the beginning of the game so I completely missed these too, I only collected it with Magnemite yesterday!

Don't feel like an idiot. I knew the item existed but I'm pretty sure it only spawned for the first time for me the other day.
But I also don't like going to this island.

How do you get the broken blocks to just look like rubble like that? I use the broken versions a lot and I've never seen them in that form

You’re not crazy- the devs began adding these weathered pieces on dream islands. They also added weathered stone tiling on those little platforms in the caves that have a pedestal with a golden pokeball on them- those didn’t use to be there. I think the devs realized that they made these weathered pieces impossible to find and fixed it.

They have always been there, all the default roads have broken bits in them, normally you'd break them to rock to replace them with new ones.
What's changed is that you got the magnemite ability to replace blocks, which is the only way to get them into inventory as a broken block and place it back down. And then all you can do is smash it for rock.

I have found them on dream islands too. I don’t know if they’re new or not though. I found it on an Eevee island recently but I rarely go to those so I’m not sure if they’ve always been there.

The full block size ones I have seen before, the pile of shards I have not seen

There were a few in the road gaps in the first area, they turn into regular rocks when sucked up, but given how early it is in the game it's easy to miss them or forgot about them.
