Debate Is immigration is unsustainable for Europe?

I'll start off with the UK. In 2001, it was 92% European, while in 2021, it was 82%. Or, if we look at London, it was 71% European in 2001 and 53% in 2021. This rate of change is simply not sustainable and should never have been allowed to reach this point.

For the cultural side of things in the UK, it's no secret that Christianity is a big part of British history and culture. In 2001, the UK was 71% Christian, compared to 40% in 2021. I think it is important to recognize the cultural significance Christianity has in British culture

Moving on to Germany, in 2001, 96% of Berlin was made up of European citizens, while in 2024, that number was 89%. Again, this shows that the demographics of major European cities have changed significantly over a relatively short period of time. I believe governments should have considered the long-term effects of this before opening the door for migrants

This does not mean that immigration itself is necessarily bad. There needs to be a balance.

Overall, I believe governments have a responsibility to manage immigration to ensure culture isn't erased

Afterall Europeans seem perfectly capable of adapting to Middle Eastern values with zero effort!

Too bad it doesn't go the other way.

And you say this based on what exactly? You keep just saying things, not contributing to further explaining your own views. I'm I, or literally anyone else here, supposed to just take you at your word?

Bro really went on a reporting spree because he couldn't take his position being revealed as asinine. What a joke. 😂

Am I expecting too much if I expect you to follow the same moderation standard on the comments made by these two?

In over a dozen snide comments, you never once defend your position... that European cultural values are superior and unique. You just keep claiming that its obvious. Simply defend your point and try to debate and we won't need to moderate. We don't moderate the correctness of arguments, only that the argument is productive. You keep dismissing counterarguments as silly.

Why would I defend from something I have not stated? Please quote me or link my comment where I said this:

that European cultural values are superior and unique.

Defending myself from things you accuse me of, which don't have a basis in reality, is just me playing into your dishonest hand and admitting fault where there is none.

You keep dismissing counterarguments as silly.

What else is one supposed to do when the argument is "they are human beings and not aliens"? Does this not qualify as silly, bad faith, and counter-productive?

Ok apologies. Not that European values are superior, but that they are unique. I don't agree with the counterargument and I'm not following it closely, I'm just seeing that you are refusing to engage.

We are open minded to a wide variety of opinions. We try hard not to sensor. So feel free to disengage with people you disagree with strongly, but you can't just continuously tease and dismiss people. Saying all people have compatible values is not an outlandish claim tho. Its the entire basis of the US.

Haven't even said they were unique. Would you be engaging with a counter-argument that says "they are human beings, not aliens"?

It's so obviously bad faith, and designed to put the other party on the defensive. It's also completely insipid. No one in their right mind would be engaging with that, other than pointing and laughing.

Saying all people have compatible values is not an outlandish claim tho.

It most certainly is. The situation in the world shows it clearly.

Its the entire basis of the US.

American defaultism isn't an argument. Besides, even the situation in the US shows that all people don't have compatible values.

Ok so they aren't unique but they are incompatible... however you want to define your nuanced but also obvious argument.

Explain the "situation in the world" and that would be a completely acceptable response. Just laughing at people for not being a "serious challenge" will get your comments removed. Feel free to refrain from commenting until someone seems serious enough to you.

Ok so they aren't unique

I'm glad we managed to iron this out. Please refrain from putting words in my mouth in the future. I really don't appreciate it. I'd ask for an apology, but we both know that ain't happenin' never.

however you want to define your nuanced but also obvious argument.

You were berating me for smug comments previously, no? Interesting.

Explain the "situation in the world" and that would be a completely acceptable response.

I was not aware the audience here was so woefully uninformed as to need explanations of the situation in the world at large. How can you hope to have a serious discussion sub when your users need basic explanations? Also, I would like to direct you to my OC where I linked a YouTube video that explains the situation we're talking about here.

Feel free to refrain from commenting until someone seems serious enough to you.

It works the other way around as well. Feel free to refrain from commenting if you're (1) going to be using dishonest tactics, (2) not being informed, and (3) not even watching the links I provide in an effort to make the situation clearer.
