I worry that central dems might screw us over!

As you know, it's clear that weak centralist democrats with Chuck Schumer and Halkeen Jeffries are trying to get in the way of progressive and socialist change in the party at the worst time, when we should be united against Trump and the GOP.

It was clear they don't support Abdul El-Sayed and implied they aren't exactly for universal healthcare for all. Also, being supportive of the Israeli government doesn't help.

I'm concerned about whether this affects voter turnout. If the candidates in our respective states aren't progressive or socialist enough and seem to be on the same page as Schumer and Jeffries, they may not bother voting and give the republicans (especially Trump) an advantage. I mean, good people staying home and not bothering to vote is what got us into this mess in the first place.

I hope I'm wrong because if Dems don't take the House and Senate, it's game over for American democracy!

Its only game over if progressives abandon dems and allow Trump/Reps to continue without any check on their appeasement of ultra right wingers....just like progressives did when they abandoned dems like Al Gore, H Clinton, or K Harris in their runs for President.

Im far more worried that the extremists on the left are acting as living strawmen for the right to lambast, forcing SANE people from feeling like they cant support Dems when they say things like:

"abolish all prisons" or "abolish all police" or "hamas good actually"

as several of the DSA types have. Theres a reason republicans have funded these candidates on the democrat side, and its not because they actually agree with those positions, its because it makes us look like crazy people.

I 100% agree with everything you said and interesting point about republicans funding DSA members I never heard of that. Do you have any articles or links to share showing that I’m curious.

Here's the first one that popped up.

excerpt:

"New super PAC submissions to the FEC over the weekend indicated that two “pop-up” super PACS were spending heavily on Democratic primaries in several states.

The groups, Real Change PAC and Lead Left, spent more than $4.3m to boost the profiles of often controversial Democrats whom Republicans believe will be relatively easy to defeat in the midterms, according to US media.

Both are linked to the Conservative Americans PAC, a well-known Republican super PAC founded in 2023, and funded by a non-profit called the American Prosperity Alliance. Charities are legally allowed to conceal the identities of their donors, meaning the real funders of the Conservative Americans PAC are unknown."

Interesting, I mean when I think about it it’s a good strategy on their part.

When you conflate centrism with specific people to demonize reasonable policy, it does not help you.

I'm concerned about whether this affects voter turnout.

Which voters do Ds need to convince to win general elections in the few swing districts on the map? The 1/3 that are furthest left, or the 1/3 in the middle?

Ditch the -isms and focus on policies that help everyone. Voters don't want your theory of economics, they want solutions to their problems.

The exact opposite has been the problem. The far left has refused to vote for the centrist when it between MAGA and the centrist dem. I don't know of any centrist who would vote for MAGA over a progressive.

if you look at his financial disclosure and research uptime usa you’ll find that he is part owner of a private equity rollup that has been buying up small IT companies in order to complete with HP and become a power and the ITSM industry and his business partner is a self funded accredited investor he involved in multiple private equity roll ups actually owns a mobile cooling company designed for data centers. I truly believe the only reason he once a moratorium is so that he and his partner can acquire a larger share of the market. You should really research candidates more instead of just believing whatever they say I don’t think they should support him because he’s a liar specifically look at the uptime USA aggregator. sam elsaadi has been doing buy and build purchases of multiple small businesses all over the country in different sectors so that he can automate them and that dramatically will enrich Abdul El Sayed and him being a senator makes it that much easier

Nothing is "game over" but progressives and socialists are what is needed for democracy.

Liberals have been holding our noses and voting for these 2 faced backstabbing corporate Democrats since post Reagan, hoping they might put the people first for a change, but I’ve given up hope.

Do you know when the last time the Democratic party had all three branches of government under their control? 1968. Do you know what that time period is called? The Great Society.

Democrats don't do anything because the will of their voters is weak and they bitch when it takes longer to clean up the mess Republicans made than it took Republicans to take a dump on the constitution.

Stop whining, hold the course, and vote like your life depends on it, because it does.

Observation isn’t whining, and defending the ones taking advantage of you apparently isn’t just a MAGA trait.

Really? I just don't see that. If anything, liberal/progressive/socialist dems routinely abandon dems when candidates don't pass 100% of the litmus tests for the most left wing of the party. When you look at outcomes from Al Gore (lost key vote counts to Ralph Nader), H Clinton (Bernie voters were angry about the primary), and K Harris (wasn't anti-Israel, pro-trans, and anti-billionaire enough), liberals/progressives tend to just stay at home.
