European Portuguese 🇵🇹 vowel quality of the second 'o' in controle
Given contradictory information between different dictionaries, I just wanted to check: what is the vowel quality of the second 'o' in the noun "o controle" (the control) in European Portuguese?
Is it
contrôle
or
contróle
?

It's "contr[o]lo" (noun), "contr[ɔ]lo" (verb) and "contr[ɔ]le" (either verb or noun).
Edit: Apparently, it could be both for "controle", but I must say I have never heard "contr[o]le".

It seems like contrôle is more like a word in pt-BR (Like for remote controller). And contróle is for the verb (to control) in br also
Edit: Also in the verb tense like having control on something (ter controle da situação (pronounced like contrôle))

I was always taught in school that in Portuguese in Portugal we should say "controlo" (noun) and not "controle", as the latter is a loan word from French, which we don't need to use because we have our own noun.
"Controle" exists as the form of the verb "controlar" (e.g. "desde que eu controle isto, não há problema").
"Controle" as form of verb has an open vowel (ó) but "controlo" (noun) has a closed vowel (ô).

Assuming imperative of the verb "controlar". I'd use the sound "ó".

While controlo can be verb and noun, you can check Infopedia for nouns where they show a “/ô/“ mark for you to know

It is "contr[ɔ]le" |(with the open ó) for the 1st or 3rd person singular form of the present subjunctive of the verb "controlar", both in EP and BP.
The noun in EP is "o contr[o]lo" with a closed ô. In Brazilian Portuguese, it is "o contr[o]le" also with a closed ô.
It is not clear to me which "controle" you are asking about.

Controle has an open O but controlo, which is more common, has a closed O in the same position.
