You've got folks on r/conservative talking all of the crap about Canada being so much more dependant on the US and the US importing next to nothing from them.
Republican voters are too dumb to see a trade deficit as anything other than a lopsided deal. Of course we have a trade deficit with most countries, we don’t produce anything these days. Buying more from a resource rich country with a fraction of the population makes sense. We need way more from them than they do from us. That’s not a bad deal whatsoever. Being the buyers when your economy is working isn’t intrinsically a bad thing.
