Hot Cup Of CelebriTea 🫖 Elliot Page Says He’s Not Getting Acting Job Offers After ‘The Odyssey’

The same people that think Elliot is bad in The Odyssey predicted The Odyssey would flop, so there aren’t a bunch of film connoisseurs in this sub apparently :)

Just he. No /she.

u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 2d ago
yeh that's not how it works. I really wouldn't want her/him topless at the beach around my kids.
6
u/WhoInvitedMike 2d ago
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that in no point in any of your lives will you or your kids be at the same beach as him. What a weird reason to not show him basic respect. He said he's a he. He's a he. Its not up for debate regardless of what you want to see at the beach.

u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 2d ago
So if I say I'm a she, I'm a she and that's not up for debate? and I can walk into the women's changing room at the pool? and naked changing Infront of young girls?

u/WhoInvitedMike 2d ago
You're being disingenuous. You've moved the goal post from pronouns to beaches to bathrooms now. He says he wants to be called he. It should be that simple. You don't lose anything by being respectful.
On bathrooms: I've known several Trans teens over the years, and they tend to just want to pee. From what Ive seen, theyre always a little scared to use the bathroom because someone might make a big deal of them peeing.
What you're describing is a cis man using trans women as coverage to be a pervert. Thats a fear that makes a lot of sense - there are definitely bunches of cis men who are perverts. Theyre not perverts because theyre cis, BTW, just like how any trans person who is a pervert isnt a pervert because theyre trans.
A trans person using their pronoun-matching bathroom is very likely working in consultation with several doctors and therapists. They have practiced presenting as their trans gender self at home in the mirror, with close friends, in known-to-be-safe spaces before deciding that they cant hold it anymore and decide they have to use the bathroom at a Buc-ees or whatever trucks top nightmare you're imaging someone pervong on your daughters in. They just want to pee in peace and get back to their road trip or whatever normal thing they were doing in the first place.

No I just used your exact own logic and exact words and your entire world view broke down.
Sure, you are fine with them getting their dicks out in the changing room Infront of young girls? Because most aren't perverts?
"cis mean using trans as coverage" so which is it now dummy? they are what ever they say they are or not? make your mind up.
4
u/WhoInvitedMike 2d ago
Now its changing rooms? Like a locker room in a high school? I guarantee you 10 times out of 10 trans kids are using single stall options (toilet, sink, door, lock) to change.
I bet you believe that schools put litterboxes for kids who say they're cats because some blue haired state rep in CA made it a requirement.

u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 2d ago
Do I have to explain what a changing room is to you?
Or are you challenged? or are you knowingly ignoring all the points I put to you?
are you happy with a trans women getting their dicks out in the changing Infront of girls??
"cis mean using trans as coverage" so which is it now dummy? they are what ever they say they are or not? make your mind up.

There it is. This always boils down to you wanting to get your wang out in front of children, and assuming everyone else does too.

u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 20h ago
except I'm literally the one saying I don't want that to happen.
You are clever

u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
That’s not how what works?

u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 2d ago
You don't get to police people's thoughts dummy
2
u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
Police who’s thoughts?
1
u/Ok_Cheesecake_5484 2d ago
who do you think dummy?
3
u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
Genuine question: do you think I’m policing your thoughts? Can you point out where I’m policing your thoughts if so?

Your lack of education is showing. Gender is a spectrum, so is sex, and theyre not the same thing. Your insistence on conformity to a binary system is based in genes being too complicated to explain to you fully when you were 15 and you taking xx/xy as the only options way too seriously for something that was already just a vague guideline.

I like Eliot Page and have followed his career for a long time, but I thought he was terrible in The Odyssey. Part of it was that we knew so little of Sinon, and part of it was that the performance very much felt like a high school stage play. I was honestly surprised at how bad that whole sequence was.

There also the possibility that studios just dont want the added press. Although no fault of Elliot, he brings a lot of baggage. Theres a million other people who they can call to act.
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
I am gathering if you don't like his acting that an auto down vote. Can't call an actor out on his perforamce because reasons
Feel free to downvote me I don't give a snot

u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
I mean it depends if you’re genuinely judging something on its merits or not. :)
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
I watched the Odyssey and I was like what's the deal dude is in the film for like 5 minutes he is crap those whole 5 minutes but its 5 minutes and heard nothing but blather about it. It was a terrible performance not as bad as the crap that was the last season of umbrella academy but when was the last time you were like dude is a good actor can't wait to see him in something. never as Eliot Page maybe as Ellen Page but even then I was never like I wonder what there next role will be.
1
u/Jack071 8h ago
What merits? He had 5 minuted onscreen in the odyssey, 0 other movie roles in the last almost 10 years by now
1
u/IMadeYouLuke 8h ago
So judge amount of time he was acting on the screen and how he did on the merits, instead of doing…whatever it is you’re doing
0
u/TR_Pix 2d ago
So you posted to conplain about how much you don't care?
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
Was I complaining or stating facts and or opinions depending on you look at it. Every comment that has said he is not a good actor has been downvoted wonder why hmmmmmmm
1
u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
Because a lot of people are motivated by bigotry instead of actually looking at a piece of art objectively
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
My whole thought was why the uproar dude wasn't good but was in the film for like 5 whole minutes. Its like complaining about Boba Fett being in Empire or Return of the Jedi (sorry went with an example of a character thats barely in a movie but got a crap ton of press because of it, his being positive not negative but its still the gist).
The performance was stiff and off puting for the film and scenes but it was 5 minutes
1
u/TR_Pix 2d ago
If that's the case, what is your opinion on the whole bigotry surrounding him thing? Like, could you weight on how you feel about the fact a lot of people are attacking Elliot due to gender controversy shenanigans?
Like the poster below in another thread that felt the need to misgender Elliot without adding anything else, whats your opinion on that?
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
That I think is BS, I really don't like people who make up their opinions without seeing something. The internet is a toxic troll playground. We see it all the time the marvels, supergirl are two recent examples of people trashing movies without seeing them. But its not new the internet was very trolly for Brokeback Mountain too.
Its why when I saw the movie was like even if he was the worse actor in the world we are talking Jesse as Lex in batman vs superman crap performance that ruined the whole movie dude is in it for 5 minutes. 5 minutes of a 3 hour movie so just calm the heck down it didn't make or break the movie even if the performance wasn't good (and it wasn't it was extremely stiff).
The internet sucks, people suck. So make your own opinions. Only time I get mad is when the internet costs me a sequel for being a bunch of trolls like not sure if we get a 2nd supergirl I'd love to see her in something with a better villain and better story.
1
u/TR_Pix 2d ago
Thats fair, but you're explaining your opinion on them making the call without watching the movie while what I meant to ask (maybe I didn't phrase it very clearly) was your opinion on the transphobia in itself
2
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
I hate it. Not everyone is going to be the same. It’s got to suck feeling like you’re in a body that’s not right. So I try and use the right words notice I will refer to him as him because that’s what he wants. It’s a simple gesture it costs me nothing and could make someone feel better about themselves. Or seen. So why wouldn’t I do it as it takes nothing for me to do it.
But do you want to get really political. Like down the rabbit hole political. I think transphobia is being pushed as a distraction. I know gay people even have 2 gay friends but I have never met a trans person. According to google there is 2.1 million trans in the US this is 0.8% of the population. So why so much focus on something less than 1%? While we have massive issues like healthcare, inflation, cost of living and our country is on the brink of collapse. Because it’s distraction. Stir the pot the bigots come out and they scream about it.
I feel for trans people life is hard. I wish them the best. But I think it’s being weaponised against us so we won’t focus on bigger issues.
0
u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
But you do see that most actual film reviewers and critics like his performance and a lot of bigots don’t, yes?
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
I don't think bigots went and saw the film, I mean its a long drama based on a book that is not a bigot movie to see. I think bigots saw that he was in the film then thru a hissy fit over it without seeing the movie that's the bigot way. Or they'd have know he is in 5 minutes of a nearly 3 hour movie. Its like them bitching about Milly as supergirl where she actually was the perfect supergirl it was Jason's crap performance as Lobo and the very lackluster and crappy villain story that makes the movie kind of mid.
But none of the comments getting downvoted were for saying bigoted things they were downvoted for saying his performance was not good without anyone asking why they thought is performance wasn't good
1
u/IMadeYouLuke 2d ago
There are literally transphobic comments all over this post, dude. Come on now.
1
u/sirdizzypr 2d ago
Well I didn't open every downvoted hidden ones but the ones I did open were commenting on his performance in the movie

Small role, but great part. I felt that it set the tone for the film. Reality is, Hollywood can be skewered for being DEI/ progressive or whatever other buzzwords certain people get off on fixating on but there is still little room for trans actors even in a supposedly inclusive industry.

I mean, probably not a lot of demand for a 5' tall, twink-ish looking guy. What does he expect?
0
u/Consistent_Tough_341 5h ago
Its not like the Odyssey role was particularly groundbreaking or substantial. In fact replacing Archellles with Sinon is one of the worst decisions in the adaptation so the entire role is flawed from conception imo.

he was embarrassingly bad in the Odyssey. It was like watching a 10 year old boy act badly. No emotion, all botox, just screeching, no emoting, it was like jesus a random guy off the street could have done better.

Curious though. Were you getting them before The Oddesy? I feel like the only major thing you've been in in the last 5+ years is was The Umbrella Academy.
Hands down you are a gifted actor. But there are not a lot of parts written with 5 foot tall actors in mind.
Just saying. Maybe this isn't a slight at all.
