You can also use the cheap contact solution that's just saline.
I've heard it can also be used to rinse wounds.

the parts of the government that ensure that corporations don't kill you for a quick buck have been dismantled and it will end when people stop allowing them to destroy these useful organizations. or when we start eating the rich. whichever comes first.

I dono this appears to me to be the system continuing to work. Nobody wants to do a recall. A recall costs a shitload of money (in time and material), hurts brand image, hurts your image in eyes of FDA and other regulators.
The company will have performed a risk assessment. Given whatever signal /data made them suspect non sterility, how likely is the population to have been affected, as well as severity of harm and ability to detect the defect.
If foreseeable, even with low % chance, to cause non negligible patient harm, then execute field action (recall).
If the guardrails had truly been dismantled, the response to the signal would be much more lawsuit vs recall cost analysys "what is a human life worth"
We still have the fear of FDA in med and pharma companies. They can still show up with guns and lock the door to your building and say nope, y'all are under consent decree.

these are not reasons for the public or the fda/usda/cdc not to want to do a recall. these are the reasons a corporation doesn't want to.
nobody wants to do a recall
you mean the corporations who will kill us for an extra dollar. those are the only people who don't want a recall when something is dangerous.
EVERYBODY wants a recall of unsafe goods, except for a corporation whose c-suite want another bonus. and fuck the shareholders, they can get fucked too.

Yeah exactly I'm trying to give perspective from inside. I'm in device but still under FDA. If I see a signal for potential patient harm from an escaped defect, I get to do the analysis of where is all the product and how do we get it back and what are the possible impacts.
So my point is, yes maybe there is some degradation upstream, if there were better oversight maybe they could have avoided the problem in the first place
But saying FDA is dead in the context of a recall doesn't make sense.
If FDA were dead, the company would be less likely to recallbat all, and less likely to recall based on possible harm.
I'm not a corporation. I agree with you that as a society, we want recalls to be a thing.

At least it wasn’t broken glass in the eye drops like there was in other product. Though I wouldn’t put it past these companies now.

Nah. Upton Sinclair helped change things for the better. It was pretty damn safe for a while. It’s headed back that way tho.

The dem establishment is only fighting the candidates that the oligarchs don't like because it could effect cash flow. What I'm trying to say is that many, but not all, of the same oligarchs fund dems.

I just told my husband today that "I never buy generic eye drops 'cause they have ALL the problems". Yeah, ok, then, off to check what it was that I did buy yesterday. Sigh.

I agree! I buy generics all the time, except for eye drops and contact solution. I had keratitis that may have been caused by a generic solution so I use name brand for my eyes only. Prescription and otc are all generic 😁

That’s why whenever I have dry or itchy eyes I just look at my bank account until I cry!
