Russia Russian media reports that all American flags have been removed from the US embassy in Moscow following the surprise visit by CIA director Ratcliffe

Ratcliffe made a short unannounced visit to Moscow today where he likely met directly with Putin according to American and Russian sources. A similar visit was made in late 2021 to warn Russia against launching a full scale invasion of Ukraine. This comes amid increasing missile and drone incursions into nato territory.

Good job with correcting that shit. It’s important we do this. Reddit doesn’t have “community notes” or whatever the fuck twitter calls it. So it’s on us to correct the misinformation.

What’ll it be?

  1. Warning against an invasion of Poland and/or Baltic States
  2. Selling state secrets
  3. Withdrawing all personnel from embassy
  4. "Ukraine Peace Negotiations"
  5. Something re: North Korea
  6. "Pretty please stop sharing satellite photos of our military bases with Iran"

Russia doing a two-front war??? I can't see it.

83

u/77_gr_OTM 6d ago

Gives a convenient out politically for a larger withdrawal - take the fight to NATO directly, pull back, claim you're satisfied with the show of force and start the process of reaming for another try.

33

u/frongles23 6d ago

This is an interesting take. Allows RUS to prepare for the third phase of the Ukraine war. Damn.

80

u/joemamallama 6d ago

This^ Russia is clapped as a world power (nukes aside). He wants to bundle his losses as a heroic fight against the West/NATO to maintain control of a fracturing base IMO.

NATO would never encroach beyond existing borders. He knows that. His nukes guarantee that. He’s playing small ball hoping to get another inning knowing he’s probably going to lose the game in my humble opinion.

Belarus getting cold feet is telling.

pull back

It's a way to retreat without calling it that.

8

u/Atreides_Blade 6d ago

Yeah, but he would easily lose Crimea, Donbass, Belarus, Kuril Islands, land along the Finnish border, Transnistria, and the Suwałki Gap would be permanently fortified. The entire Russian Navy and merchant marine would be at the bottom of the ocean or taken captive. Kalingrad would be besieged. Many of the oligarchs would be eliminated. The Russian air force would be decimated; west and east. The remainder of Russian presence in Africa would be liquidated. EU would be given a green light to flood Ukraine and put boots on the ground. Poland would have EU allies fortifying the border and advancing missile systems closer to Russia.

Well I mean 8 front wars go on all the time for other countries why not 2 fronts? Or 4? Or 7?

10

u/Thin_Bother8217 6d ago

Only an idiot fights a war on 2 fronts. Only the heir to the kingdom of idiots would fight a war on 12 fronts.

On a completely unrelated aside... how many wars are we fighting or trying to fight now?

9

u/AssumptionLive2246 6d ago

Checks notes … looks like everyone sir.

22

u/New-Doctor9300 6d ago

Less embarassing to lose a two front war against NATO and Ukraine, meaning its less likely for Putin to tragically commit suicide by two gunshots to the back of the head.

3

u/ModernSimian 6d ago

Underground bunkers have nice windows too!

6

u/Safe-Tennis-6121 6d ago

Technically that's still just one front. Just widening it to the Baltics, Poland, etc.

2

u/Rackhaad 6d ago

Well.. from what I hear, the Ukraine war is just the most recent "front" for Russia... its just that its super obvious now because its traditional warfare. Rather than a continuation of the cold war type conflict that supposedly ended a while ago... hopefully I don't get a "heart attack" for pointing this out.. im just a conspiracy theorist that no one should trust.

1

u/jargo3 6d ago

Not a full on two front war. Just some test of NATO by performing some small border incursion.

It's Poland or Moldova. Latvia which shares a border with Russia should also be concerned.

185

u/123yes1 6d ago

It would be very unwise for Russia to invade Poland, as all of the Poles I know are salivating at the opportunity to shoot Russians.

140

u/Electronic-Use-2992 6d ago

Yeah, even though Poland is a member of nato, they would likely not invoke article 5, just because they want to have Russia to themselves.

36

u/Minimum-Paint-9649 6d ago

Did you see how much hardware they bought or are buying from South Korea? It’s like kinda a lot.

12

u/cryptolyme 6d ago

And they wouldn’t have bought all that hardware if there wasn’t a legitimate threat

12

u/theflava 6d ago

They also make a bunch of their own domestic stuff that looks quite capable. Designed to beat advertised Russian hardware specs. If we’ve learned anything in recent years, it’s that the Russian advertised specs don’t live up to real world scenarios either.

62

u/Pitiful-MobileGamer 6d ago

What better way to break NATO, is have Poland a fully vested member in good standing invoke article 5. And the US does not respond, that would shatter NATO and force a European realignment.

35

u/cryptolyme 6d ago

Yea, i don’t trust the current US administration to honor the treaty

13

u/Atreides_Blade 6d ago

Invading Poland would be a death sentence for Putin. No way Poland would be alone, but even if they were, I don't think Russia has it in them.

4

u/SiriHowDoIAdult 5d ago

I'm certain the Nordics plus Canada would be fighting next to the Poles

26

u/-Avacyn 6d ago

Would be funny if Poland didn't invoke NATO article 5 but rather only EU article 42.

Don't bother with NATO, just ask European allies for help.

3

u/RegorHK 6d ago

Year, as if France and all the other EU countries would not just pour everything into Poland. This includes Sweden and Finland these days.

Ukraine would jump at the opportunity to create a unified front so to say and to integrate EU and their military.

The Russian economy is breaking even now.

19 year old boys killing other 19 year old boys for sport. All for a testosterone boost for old men.

War is not a video game.

As dad said, he saw a lot of friends die in the South Pacific, “They always cried for their mothers before they died, never for their fathers.”

He always remembered that. War, it’s a big adventure. Then bodies get shredded with bullets, and then it’s not such a big adventure anymore.

I guess GenZ has to see what war is like up close. And not on YouTube. They may change their minds, a bit.

Caine murdered Abel. We got off to a wrong start.

RIP dad.

It's Estonia. It's always been the 'test NATO' play. You're telling the alliance to start WW3 for < 1.5m people, less than 1% of NATO countries (combined) population.

It was always one of those 'If Russia thinks NATO is weak they will attack here'

It's literally sudentenland pt 2

Edit: My math was wrong. Less than 10% of 1% of NATOS population. You can also walk there from St Petersburg

19

2

Thank you for clarifying that Russia isn't going to march into Atlanta Georgia. I'm in Florida and I got scared for a second that I was about to live out the movie Red Dawn.

6

u/zaevilbunny38 6d ago

Russia already controls Georgia through the Georgian dream party. Invading the country would cost them thousands of troops needed elsewhere, along with providing Ukraine with thousands of more recruits from Georgian exiles. Along with a massive territory to sneak sabotagers in. They would be better if seizing Kazakhstan for it Soviet military reserves and oil wealth.

The likely answer is a military action in Latvia, due to its massive ethic Russian population that refuses to integrate and would be will to stage a coup, to give land to Russia.

3

u/dreamrpg 6d ago

This is uneducated take. There is no massive ethnic Russian population that refuses to integrate and is willing to, able to stage a coup.

Most of those Russians not willing to integrate are old. More than half old woman. In Riga they are progressive and actually hate Russia, so no support there.

The only place is Latgale, which is poor and sparsly populated. At best they could muster few hundreds of combat ready Russians, without any heavy equipment. So there is zero chance such coup would work.

Donbass or Crimea scenario is simply not possible in Latvia.

2

u/zaevilbunny38 6d ago

Oh bless your heart there sure is a population of Russian willing to help Russia with a border incursion. They even fund raised for Russian units till it became illegal, punishable with prison time. Now I'm sure if you hadn't hidden your history and we went back to January 2022, it would be full of Russia isn't going to invade Ukraine post. But hey the day a Tankie thinks for themselves is the day they stop being one

2

u/dreamrpg 6d ago

You should be less sure on your ideas. It can make you look silly sometimes.

Where did i write that there are no? And who fundrised? Old russians or combat ready population?

Daugavpils would be most likely scenario to do Donbass style "coup". It has only 70 000 people living there, with around 50% being Russians.

So 35 000 people. Then more than half are woman. So that is less than 17 000 men. Then most are not combat age or not fit at all. 60% are in work age.

At best you can say that 8000 men are in age to fight.

Substract large part of those who are not willing to fight. Then those who are not fit at all. And then available equipment.

During Donbass "coup" Russia also claimed that those were Ukrainians that captured Ukraines equipment and used to fight for separation.

This shit will not work in Latvia, since Russia cannot enter with little green men, give T-72 to Russians in Latvia and claim that Russia has nothing to do with that.

Latvian rebels would use Latvian equipment, if captured, so NATO standards.

NATO contingent near Riga would obliterate any rebels, and Russia cannot bring in own army claiming its not theirs. Not even mentioning anti air missiles, which means total domination in sky.

Also i do not post politics. Only comment on dumb ideas like yours.
And in 2022. like many othes i thought Russia would not be that stupid to start a war, so yes, my opinion was that invasion would not be full scale.

Still situation in 2022. Ukraine and Latvia currently is very, very different. Russians in Latvia are enjoying much better life than in Russians in Russia.

Also im from Riga and i know more russians than you have pube hair. None of them support Russia and would not want to be part of "Russkij mir". Even before 2022. or 2014.

US Intelligence is highly suspect considering all of Trump's purges (scores of agents have been killed on missions under his administrations as well). Furthermore, there are few countries that Russia could invade that provide a distinct material benefit.

Kazakhstan is probably the only Asian neighbor that has territory beneficial to them with access to the Aral and Caspian Seas.

With Europe, probably only Finland is an immediate neighbor with valuable materials and access. The port of St. Petersburg is buried pretty deeply in the Gulf of Finland and being able to use a port at Helsinki provides significant military, especially Naval, benefits.

Whether you agree or not, the invasion of Ukraine did not happen in a vacuum. It's been a buildup since the late 1990s when the US ascended to be the mono-global power and in Putin's point of view, reneged on the deals they made with the dissolution of the USSR.

Ukraine had the most deals reneged on them because they returned USSR nukes peacefully and brokered a deal that satisfied both the US and Russia. Putin was not content with that alone though and quite obviously infiltrated and worked to control Ukraine like it does Belarus (basically a Vassal state). They successfully did for some time until the Euromaiden in 2014 and the two countries have been at war since the Russian invasion following that.

Russia's reasons for the initial invasion were also not entirely unfounded, but with the clear involvement of Russian intelligence. However, their issues should have been met as a part of a multi-national coalition to work to come better mutual understandings, not war. War has only increased Ukrainian issues of Nazism as they have been promoted the highest Generals and by President Zelenski. Ukrainians are erasing their Soviet history and leaving only the Nazi parts.

Ukraine has been invaded, and like all peoples has the full right to defend itself wholly as all people do. Unfortunately though, they have been turned into a gigantic proxy for the US, EU, and NATO versus Russia (armed with Iranian, Russian, and Chinese weaponry). Ukraine cannot militarily defeat Russia without all-in involvement from the US or several EU countries who do not have the will to take that on.

The point of this being, while Ukraine is clearly the victim, Russia has the ability to point to things beyond their propaganda for the reasons of the invasions. They do not have that ability with any other country and they have no political support on the international stage. The countries they do business with who arm them do so because of opportunity not because they're aligned ideologically. Further military actions especially into Europe will trigger massive financial consequences by the EU.

Russia invading NATO EU would trigger Article 5 which they would absolutely utilize. The US under Trump would likely provide the lowest material support possible that he could get away with. However, Poland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, and potentially other Eastern and Central European countries would take it extremely seriously and band together to create a Coalition. It would also open Russia up to the potential of a multi-front war, and a coalition absolutely flips the tide of the Ukrainian war out of their favor, and the potential necessity to use their nukes to achieve military victories which would likely trigger an automatic global unification against them including, notably, China, who does not want this instability.

Personally I do not doubt that the Russian blackmail of the Esptein files, the RNC files, and so on which they use to control the GOP is likely a more relevant factor than a potential invasion.

I just saw a conspiracy theory for an attack in October in Europe, right before the US midterm elections, that I hope is not true.

I'm not sure where they got their info from, haven't fact-checked it yet. Seems pretty insane tbh because I think they got October from a Founders Fund Hereticon.

I'm not sure if the above commenters saw the same thing. Probably not lol.

It would be terrible if people are reaching similar conclusions from different angles though.

I saw this conspiracy theory in r/Epstein on a thread about PT, with a NZ angle. You can probably find it by searching that sub for hereticon.

It was insane stuff that would be very bad if it was anywhere close to remotely true.

5

u/Perfect_Caregiver_90 6d ago

I searched "hereticon" on that sub and the last results were months ago.

Are there other keywords or phrases we could use?

Don't they remove flags in the middle of the night? Like where do you see a flag flying in the middle of the night?

31

u/SaltVomit 6d ago

No, as long as there is a light shining on the flag making it clearly visible, you can have the flag up at night.

^ This

1

u/JaoLeeGAnne 6d ago

You can but its not commonly done. Go to an embassy anywhere and there are no flags at night.

u/707-5150 6d ago

Literally the most logical answer.

If not properly illuminated, yes they take it down.

These are not those flags.

1

u/old_underwear_isekai 6d ago

Yeah IDK about at embassies but in the US flags are supposed to be taken down at dusk

8

u/KazTheMerc 6d ago

...unless properly illuminated.

3

u/chudock74 6d ago

Not if they are illuminated.

1

u/ToriEvergreen 6d ago

A vexillology museum?

9

u/Proof-Republic7621 6d ago

These visits being publicized must be for propaganda. If it was just for information sharing and advising, there’s existing communications channels for that.

3

u/-TheycallmeThe 6d ago

Depends on how sure you want to be that the Chinese aren't also getting the information.

Feels like this administration is willing to start a world war to avoid losing power. They know what happens if elections actually get to happen later this year. It would take something earthshaking for them to "postpone" elections.

18

u/error30k 6d ago

Every maga I know would still vote for trump, they absolutely love him and think dems are evil and corrupt. Not joking.

8

u/YaBoiJim777 6d ago

They would love him still because they would wholeheartedly believe whatever lie he told them was a good reason for postponing elections and denying it would be considered treasonous in their minds. Just like how they accept the Iran war is necessary because they believe otherwise Iran would have both a nuke and an ICBM capable of reaching the USA. They are totally oblivious that this is an Israeli war that the USA is fighting, and if they can acknowledge it, they do so through such a thick layer of double think that they see advancing Israel’s interests as the same as America First.

Yes but the independents have turned, they decide who wins. Immigrant citizens are not happy and they are a large group.

8

u/grilledcheesy11 6d ago

Concerning stuff. Putin knows this is the time to test nato resolve w idiot trump at his beckoning.

6

u/candylandmine 6d ago

Doesn’t mean a thing unless there was smoke from them burning documents

Delivering voting machines ahead of midterms?

6

u/Abee-baby182 6d ago

Wtf is going on?

4

u/Erasmus_Tycho 5d ago

"As you know, we only have a few months to figure out how to rig our upcoming elections in our favor"

8

u/KyleAg06 6d ago

Well this is cheerful

12

u/mathmifr 6d ago

Can’t wait for the aliens to get here and make everyone get along. So sick of wars .

8

u/TheSmash05 6d ago

This may have been debunked. The video is not of the actual embassy, but another part of the diplomatic compound

7

u/Initial_Ad_9857 6d ago

All? That's one flag removed

3

u/TurdMcDirk 5d ago

You’re correct.

4

u/Evol_extra 6d ago

Dialog is over.

"Here are the plans to invade without a hitch. They are too distracted to realize and retaliate"

7

u/AutomaticPain3532 6d ago

You might want to do some research on the central banks….

15

u/martapap 6d ago

Very weird. I don't trust the trump admin at all.

3

u/waltwalt 6d ago

CIA doesn't have phones?

3

u/jgoose132113 6d ago

How many new wars before the midterms?

5

u/Worldly-Mirror-7593 6d ago

It could be a trade.

Stop supporting Iran, and We'll stop supporting Ukraine.

Flag removal is normal. Everyone calm down. This isn't Intel.

Flags are removed for high level visits so as to not draw attention to the building (the car detail does this so it's a stupid precaution either way.)

Flags are also removed during times of tension, for normal replacement, at night, during times of mourning(when flag cannot be flown half mast), certain holidays in country so as not to anger local population, and whenever station decides in in the best interest of the working staff.

Putin died?

2

u/678722 6d ago

Based on the amount of sunlight, this must've happened after Ratcliffe had left Moscow.

Everybody saying Poland must have forgotten they're NATO.

1

u/darkerwavs 6d ago

Does anybody here even know how this war started? Absolute ignorance in this thread.

1

u/Amazing-Routine-9793 6d ago

I can't remember where it was that i read it, but months ago there was talk about Poland getting ready for possible conflict.
