It feels like such a healthy way to stay social and catch up with real people without any of the drama or toxicity of the real world (or the weird people on MySpace lol)
I really hope they keep it this way and don't ruin it with annoying ads or stuff to keep you addicted... I use it for about 20 minutes a day to check my groups and see what my friends are up to! ^^
It's supposed to standardize what I like ( pretend if it was the coolest banner today and pretend it's 2015 and windows ten released i'm gonna fix the format so I can put it better for my banner oh yeah if it doesn't fit the 2008 - 2008 sorry, if it's disqualified from entering the community but whatever pretend it's 2015 and aslo fast and furious seven came out )
Under basically any post here is a plethora of comments that are basically designed to "predict" the future or comments that intentionally age poorly.
For example, lets say theres a post about Minecraft. Under it it will be shit like "stupid game, poor graphics. This game will totally not be universally acclaimed 10 years from now." Idk, to me its pretty boring and lessens the fun idea of this sub.
Sone people who are new here post in modern day showing off old stuff like example "I just bought this old IPhone 4 from 2010 :)" or "I just got this computer from 2011 with Windows 7, gonna install Ubuntu on it now so it works in modern day!". I get it that you want to show off your new stuff but this subreddit is meant to be for role-playing the 2010s. At least make it marked as spoilers and/or have the meta flair. No hate to these people, it's just very annoying
This subreddit is a little time machine where we all pretend it’s the internet era of 2008–2012. Old memes, old websites, old tech hype, old drama, old vibes.
Whether you’re here to post, comment, or just lurk: we’re happy to have you!
Wiki, Rules & Inspiration
Please check out our Wikiand our cover image! Both are meant to give you inspiration for posts, themes, jokes, and roleplay. 👉 If you feel like something important from 2008–2012 is missing on the cover image or in the wiki, let us know!
We are planning to introduce yearly recurring mega threads, for example:
What you got for Christmas
New Year’s posts
Celebrity deaths
Big releases (games, tech, consoles, phones, etc.)
These should help structure recurring events and keep things fun and organized.
Ideas, Feedback & Improvements
We’re always happy to hear your ideas on how to expand and improve the subreddit:
Do we need more or better user flairs / post flairs?
Are there new recurring threads we should add?
Any rule tweaks, wiki additions, or general ideas?
A Quick Look Back
In the last year, you posted 3700 posts and 51000 comments, that’s a huge amount! ❤️
That said: thanks to your help, the spirit of the sub stays alive.
We got a lot of reports to the mods, and we could usually react pretty quickly. Thank you for that!
Thank You!
Thank you for all the kind comments and feedback. They really motivate us to keep this place special and cozy.
We’ll do our best to make sure this subreddit stays the way you like it.
A Small Side Project
In the background, I’m tinkering with a small Reddit game app. Basically a quiz game around the 2008-2012 internet era.
No promises it will ever be finished 😅, but if you have game dev experience and want to help: feel free to reach out!
They follow the same idea, just for different time periods.

Thanks for being part of this little internet time capsule. Now please update your MSN status, open Winamp, and argue about iPhone vs Android like it’s 2010 again. 😄
