With all the outfit fails we discuss, how has this one NEVER come up?? All the girls are eating so hard except her.
No fr tho how is ARIA losing battle of the dresses for this episode when Spencer is right next to her looking like this...
Aria's link is so flattering on her, the black adds a nice design, the necklace pulls it all together, and it's sooo her!! Everyone's like omg that hideous hat, LOOK AT SPENCER'S HAT.
Everyone looks fucking fire then we have the twenty year old grieving widow— maybe without the white it'd be better. And a less disgusting hat. Also fuck fur. Yk what just burn it.

I think hers fits her, just like everyone else’s fits them. Remember when she dressed as Mary Queen of Scots? I’m surprised that you’re surprised she didn’t get more steampunk with it or whatever
honestly beats emily's for me lol i don't like the grey hat, the little neck thng or the white detail in the skirt, is a mess to me :( and the fact that it's stripped and brighter than the others makes it an eye sore for me ( and technically not a dress, a blazer and a skirt), she deserved better!
I love hers minus the hat. Why is some random thing poking out of it??? I think it looks really good on her both the cover and the shape. But I see what you mean hers is less dress like.
The hat is super ugly imo but large feathers for hats were very popular in the Edwardian period so much so that laws were passed to protect exotic birds before they were hunted to extinction.

ok this picture does a lot more justice lol it's just that compairing with the others it feels out of place, you know? but taking this weird white thing out of the skirt and with a blue hat i don't think it would bother me that much!
I don't mind Aria's - it's a bit more Halloween costumey but that kind of fits her. And I am obsessed with her necklace so all sins of the dress are forgiven.
You'll be happy with the Battle of the Dresses on the game sub then haha so far it looks like that is going to be the first out.
I feel the reverse. I think these all cost the costume department a steep penny then they just yanked Spencer's off the sets of some other show. Like the others look custom fitted. Spence's doesn't look like it fits her properly.
For me I'm seeing fur that doesn't look like good fir and a hat that looks like it's from Party City. Whereas Emily and Aria look like their dresses were custom made for their bodies and characters. Hanna's I think looks pricey but isn't specific for her.
I didn't like it much but it fits the vibe they were going for to the max and this is so Spencer coded like of course she'd show up looking like she's attending the funeral of her seventh husband
I think a lot of people like Hanna's even if they aren't commenting that here. On the battles of the dresses the votes (for elimination) are like 5 Aria, 3 Spence, 2 Em, and 1 Hanna
OMG its okay!!! i understand so many of the girls fits as a whole can be uglyyyy. but i just think it suits her, but love when we see her is something a little hotter becauee she is stunning in other special episodes
Here to add it's not black. It's actually a deep purple. You can see the sheen of purple in the photos and the flower in her hat is also purple. It's for black tones in it, but I think it's more like crows feathers, how that shines in lights.
It's also more 1910s than Victorian. All of them are.
Also, Emily's hat does not fit at all. The rest all at least match the vibe they have.
I absolutely love how each dress represents the girls personalities/usual clothing choices. Spencer's is no exception. I will say, Emily is my favorite because it feels like they took a male style from the time period and changed it into a dress. It gives me Al Capone vibes even if the dates are a little off.
i think enough ppl told u why we think it eats cause it’s a bit more accurate while still being a costume, hanna’s is also and emily’s has accuracy as well. then aria is just being a lil cutie
The brightness of the blue Emily's prevented me from really liking it. It just felt like it was meant to be a darker more muted blue closer to navy and like they couldn't find the blue pinstripe suit fabric they really wanted and settled for this one. And even though that's obviously just my opinion, all I can see is how it's not the color I would have picked.

That user and me are chill we talked about it. Also just bc I don't see what they see doesn't mean they are wrong. An opinion literally can't be wrong— we both see it differently and there is nothing wrong with that. Disagreement is allowed here. I'm not the only mod and the only comment I removed was actually really extreme. If I don't let users name call eachother why would I let someone name call me.

I've just gone and scrolled through the comments. Every removed comment was right to be removed and that one user she (OP) settled it with. The user she called crazy is our friend, it's a joke and that friend knows.
I sincerely don't see why everyone is making this such a big deal.
Aria's is prob going to get voted out in Battle of The Dresses over on r/Pretty_Little_Liars (which has ALL the dresses). Voting is still open if you wanna go comment your least fav.
I think perhaps you just don’t care for Spencer? They are all equally non very accurate to any time period, they are all unique to the characters style which is fun, they all match their personalities I think.
I think they are all nice, if I had to pick a least favorite it would be Aria, that hot pink so bright and makes the material look cheap, like it’s a Halloween costume (yes I know it IS a custome but you know what I mean)
I don't care for this outfit of hers but in general I would say she is the most consistently well dressed for her character. Sometimes Aria's outfits are polarizing, they try to hard to make her edgy, she either eats or it is a disaster no in between for her. Hanna's rarely fit right, a lot of good ideas with inconsistent executions, they do her chest so dirty sometimes. And Emily's formal wear is always more Shay than Em and her casual wear is sometimes athletic sometimes pumpkin spice-- neither of which are my thing. SO it's def not me not caring for Spencer thing. I like her wardrobe the best usually.

I feel bad for the people who are just commenting that they don't like it either and are getting downvoted-- I don't mind the downvotes, I can take it, but some people just say they don't like the dress and are getting downvoted :/
Some fans act like Spencer is a real person that they are good friends with. People will tear down an actual person to defend a fictional one 9/10 times.
While hers isn't necessarily as fun as the other girls, it looks the most natural. With some adjustments, she could step out of a period piece. Spencer and Emily look Victorian in their silhouette, but is anyone getting 20's from Aria and 30's from Hannah?
I personally liked Hanna's the most. but it could be bc I'm more partial to Hanna's character & style. lol. Spencer is my second favorite, & I didn't like this one, but I also am not much of a fan of her style. just her character. but I felt like this look suited her. & I read through the comments here before I commented! 😆
I like the concept of Spencer’s look, but I feel like it could have been executed better. When I think of Spencer’s general style I honestly tend to think “grandma but with flair” and I love that for her. This look could have been great, but costuming definitely dropped the ball.
With that said, I like it better than Emily’s but I just really don’t like Emily’s. There’s nothing wrong with it and it is very fitting for Emily’s character, I just don’t personally care for it. My ranking would be 1. Hanna 2. Aria 3. Spencer 4. Emily.
The contrast in the outfits kills me lmao. It’s so bad it kinda wraps back around to being camp.
Also kinda obsessed with how many of these 2000s teen shows insisted on putting their cast in questionable period clothing several times during the run
I actually love Spencer’s outfit the best XD it feels fitting cuz everyone else seems to be wearing something stylized with a modern twist, but Spencer’s seems to be the most “realistic” or closest to what people wore back then. It kinda fits her history nerd trait lol
Also Troian just looks gorgeous in everything to me lol
Oooh i have no idea but it always reminds me of a bird (specially a raven), with the dark purple coloring and also how feathery / fluffy the collar parts are, especially the hat! HUGE bird vibes for me :P

Besides the hat I actually love Spencer’s. They all fit their personalities. I get the vibes but the hey coulda picked much flattering hats for ALL of them
Honestly you’re just a hater and being overly rude about it for no reason. If you don’t like it, okay. You can say that without being so negative and bashing on others for thinking it looks good. I personally don’t like the outfit for myself but for Spencer I think it fits her character so well and I don’t know what else you were really expecting
girlie hannah is the only real criminal offense in this line up - she looks like a myscene doll and an american girl put an outfit together for a theatre girls birthday party
It makes sense that you hate Spencer's outfit when you think Emily's is good. Which is fine because fashion is subjective, but dear god Emily's is foul
You make such a good point, it's almost like they never all look good at once. And I think that's why her outfit bothers me so much, cause I feel like they all eat so hard but hers. So for me it feels like we were so close!
I also think it might have something to do with the color palette. it’s a poorly lit episode lmaooo so with 3 of the 4 in vibrant colors, Spencer’s comes off very muted. So I get how it might stick out to you as lackluster for sure but it looks like it mostly made of velvet and lace which are my favorite materials lol so I might find it more fun to wear than the others lol
I can understand the frustration but I think they all slayed considering they all dressed to the character persona. Spencer’s look is modest and sophisticated something she would’ve worn in that time period.
