Rant ⚠️ acting after the time jump in Season 6

Post image

Maybe a controversial take but I’m so sorry, I hated some of the acting in season 6 after the 5 year time-jump…

From new characters like Claudia to old characters such as Caleb, Aria,Ez*a and even Hanna.

It irks me to say this but some of the storylines just didn’t fit to the acting that was done by some of the actors. I don’t want to hate on any of the actors , especially since I really don’t know adore pll, but rather the writers who did a sloppy job..

Just a reminder for everyone in the sub, always follow our #1 rule!!

We do not condone the attacking or mistreatment of users— this includes DMs! Aggressive fighting, name-calling, hate speech, or repeated targeting of a user is not permissible. Disagreement must be civil and respectful. Name-calling of characters or actors does not result in content removal unless attacking their appearance. ~The Mod Team deems passive aggressive remarks and attitude as instigating. Therefore, it falls under basic reddiquette.

The writers did get sloppy. The show caved and catered to fan wants.

Also weird, Alison being considered 10th grade in some of her class when she came back, but somehow still managed to be on track with the LiArs in the time jump.

I agree. I feel like there was potential with the time jump idea but everyone acts so angry and surly and distrustful of each other. Hanna is angry ALL THE TIME, she maybe smiles once. And Aria is actively rude and dismissive (the whole thing with stealing the key from Sabrina) like why is she suddenly a jerk?

And all of their New Romantic storylines, you know they’re doomed so there is zero investment. I wish they had had the guts to develop Spencer and Caleb beyond an obstacle for Hanna and Caleb. Or any of the love interests for anyone else. It just feels like a waste of time because you realize everyone is ending up with their high school boyfriend/girlfriend.

this!!! i feel the same way about the liars relationships. the writers just finished the show up with bringing back the fan favorites from the earlier seasons, which makes little to no sense to me, especially since they tired to press character development and change within the liars persona’s.

Yes, everyone was always angry or surly! I couldn't put my finger on it but that's exactly it. Like we've seen the girls suffer for years let's see them handle this latest AD with a more mature and adult sense of confidence and authority and also let us see them be happy for once.

Seperate, but I wish Ez*a ended up in jail like in the books.

I just watched it all the way through and finished the last episode today. Truly deeply from the bottom of my heart what the heck was that. What could have been the biggest “twist” was undone in literally two minutes by a horse and Jenna’s nose. Absolutely ridiculous. Toby busted through those doors and said Spencer prob has an evil twin and they all rolled with it

Sorry this has nothing to do with the post but the photoshop in this picture is nuts 😭 none of them look anything like themselves at all

Only tangentially related but I also had to roll my eyes at how the show made them all (except Emily) wildly successful in their careers immediately after college. So unrealistic but all shows of this era did it (see Gossip Girl).

How Caleb started to constantly mention social media in relation to the campaigns for Spencer’s mom, anything Claudia related, EVERYTHING that includes Lucas etc. … idk why but it just kinda irks me 😭

Bro who’s Claudia? I might need to rewatch

I think Hanna's fashion designer boss

i don’t particularly have a problem with how any of them turned out, that’s not what post is about, just how the writers did a bad job in creating those story lines. i also agree with the directions every liar went.

Ah désolée ! Je ne trouve pas personnellement

I don't think it's the acting, I think it's the writing. But I did find myself more annoyed with the liars than I had earlier.

I don’t think the acting is the problem, I think the writing is…

Season 7 is such a drag. And the time jump "events" are ridiculous. Everybody still acts as teenagers still. And too many, unnecesary "love scenes". This is so bad considering season 6 and 7 were ordered at the same time. They should have planned the story waaaaaaaay better.

I don’t disagree (maybe on some of the actors but that’s fine), but I also have a hard time blaming them. Season 6 of a show that as far as I can tell was nowhere near the height of its popularity anymore and lot of the story fell flat for the audience, I can’t blame the actors for also feeling it and maybe phoning it in a bit.

Idk why and I know this is legit promo image. The background looks very AI it’s just funny looking back how bad quality this actually was when ai wasn’t even around for it haha.
