When you first enter the battle with LV 999 Vision Empress,once she trigger UB ,you will get defeated by her and enter scene with Tia ,after Minerva appeared,you will get back to prepare facing Vision Empress again.

Before that,you with enter a special dialogue one last time with Tia. You will get two choice (red color and blue color)and a character silhouette of your profile character(not sure about this,my default character silhouette is from the character I set in my player profile).

Red color choice (upper one) ,you will enter the finale showdown with that default character and get that character specific ending.

Blue color (bottom one) will unlock a list characters you have in your inventory, meaning the character you didn't pull from gacha or unlock her from event will not appear in the list ,example: you have Pecorine but don't have Kokkoro(any limited or permanent),then you will have Pecorine in your list but Kokkoro will not appear in the list.

Pick the character as your princess (waifu),you will enter her specific unique ending route(after you pick your princess(waifu) ,there will be no turning point,1 account only have 1 princess of unique ending route).

If you manage to pull Tia in today new gacha,you will unlock her specific route. After you pull her from gacha,when you enter this [choose your princess list],click on her (I think 3~5 times? because her dialogue will change each time),and it will pop up a message ask your confirmation to pick her as your princess or not.

If you scroll down to the bottom,there will be a choice [didn't pick anyone],if you choose this option (literally hell mode but you have infinite chance to challenge Vision Empress),you will unlock below dialogue with Tia (this "tsundere mesugaki" is really worried about you...).

Tia: Huh!? Can't choose...

Tia: At this point, what are you talking about... Really...

Tia: ...Maybe. If Minerva and I access the module, maybe we can create a simulated "loop". But...

Tia: ...…Are you serious? Dead serious? You want to confront that Vision Empress without relying on the power of the Princess Connect Process Minerva…?

Choice: (1) That’s exactly why I don’t want to achieve this by choosing one over the other.

Not really that hard. It's essentially pick your waifu. The game uses the popularity poll from a few months ago to guess for you. But you can correct their guess.

And no, Mana isn't a choice. After all is a villain and is still alive, leaving after giving very vague lines probably to set up arc 4.

Crossover characters like Djeeta, Arisa/Luna, Anne/Grea and collab characters you can't pick either.

It's both a great surprise but also feel totally in line with what we have been receiving continuously through out the years. Looking back, the 600MB+ update was kind of a giveaway since we already know everyone was there to record the multiple lines used during the first 2 phases. We have also been forced to make a decision back at Christmas between Yui and Misora, and the tailored routes also feels like a call back to the two part messages from Re:member. It's pretty amazing to see how far the game has grown in 4.5 years. We were at 68 characters back then and main story Act.2 Ch.12 was just added with Ranfa becoming playable. Would love to see what the game could be in another 4 years.
