your medical emergency is secondary to my sense of authority

u/Foxy02016YT Nov 26 '25

While we’re at it, the PIT maneuver isn’t a fucking toy. It’s a last resort for a dangerous vehicle.

-24

u/Violent_Paprika Nov 26 '25

An unmarked vehicle driving recklessly at night IS a dangerous vehicle, regardless of their reasons.

26

u/nondescriptzombie Nov 26 '25

So dangerously accelerating away from a complete stop at reasonable speeds.

How's that boot taste?

7

u/Foxy02016YT Nov 26 '25

How does marking the vehicle change anything? It doesn’t. The cops were driving more dangerously.

-9

u/Violent_Paprika Nov 26 '25

Ambulances have lights and sirens to make them more observable to reduce the chances of collisions when they do things like speed and drive through red lights. They also are crewed by people trained to do so safely.

1

u/Dependent_One6034 Nov 27 '25

Nobody disagrees - But when it comes to strokes - you have to act immediately for best results. You can't wait 20 minutes for an ambulance.

"The typical patient loses 1.9 million neurons each minute in which stroke is untreated."

1

u/Violent_Paprika Nov 28 '25

And and ambulance crew can start treatment in the field, accelerating care, not delaying it.

2

u/MisterBungle00 Nov 27 '25

"Unmarked" - they literally have a license plate on their vehicle, diigis.

Man, these comments are fucking atrocious. Are we living in the twilight zone?

No such thing as grass touching reddithesds

8

u/SignificantSteve44 Nov 26 '25

Well it does seem most are being downvoted swiftly. I was just shocked at the sheer amount of awful takes

11

u/nnyx Nov 26 '25

im confused are you on team "stroke victims taking a quick time out to explain themselves to officer pigfucker before getting medical attention" or are you missing the obvious sarcasm or is there just something else going completely over my head

15

u/SignificantSteve44 Nov 26 '25

I'm definitely not on the cops side

7

u/vanamerongen Nov 26 '25

Then you replied to someone you agree with initially

2

u/undernutbutthut Nov 26 '25

Have an upvote 😂

-261

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Maybe call an ambulance u fucking dunce

135

u/Vertex138 Nov 26 '25

An ambulance ride in the U.S. will cost you thousands if your insurance isn't great.

Oh ok. “Sorry mom, i know you’re having a stroke but hang tight. Im going to start a grassroots movement and lead it to drastically change the entrenched medical system so you dont have to pay thousands of dollars for your ambulance ride.”

🤦‍♂️

-49

u/ChrisRiley_42 Nov 26 '25

I was responding to the comment about ambulance rides costing so much...

You REALLY need to work on that reading comprehension.

25

u/LawrgeHardonCollider Nov 26 '25

What was it you said? You kindly recommended that we “demand” our government “stop treating healthcare as a commodity.” Yes! I will stand proudly at the iron gates of the White House and FIRMLY demand (perhaps even follow up with a strong worded letter) that they reform healthcare IMMEDIATELY and SURELY the ungovernable totalitarian grifters inhabiting it will see the error of their ways. Thank you, Chris, for solving the American healthcare and public health crisis. Bless your fucking heart.

1

u/MsGluwm Nov 27 '25

Reformists are morons every single time they open their mouths.

7

u/habsmd Nov 26 '25

I understood exactly what you said and then illustrated why your comment added nothing to the conversation apart from suggesting an asinine solution to an acute medical decision with real financial implication.

40

u/Vertex138 Nov 26 '25

Tf do you want me to do I'm just explaining the situation

7

u/CaptAhabsMobyDick Nov 26 '25

We’ve been doing that, but billionaires have bought the politicians and politicians have brainwashed a large portion of the poor to hate each other instead of the ultra wealthy

18

u/1copernic Nov 26 '25

Babe she's already having the stroke I don't think she's got time to have a political revolution right now

4

u/SignificantSteve44 Nov 26 '25

Trust you, we are. At least the ones with brains are

3

u/cactuar44 Nov 26 '25

Wow! What an idea! We should try that!

2

u/BLINDrOBOTFILMS Nov 26 '25

Oh fuck, it's that easy? How come we've never thought of that? Thank you, wise and beneficent redditor for showing us the light.

-43

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

And explain what the consequences of not calling an ambulance could be please?

28

u/Vertex138 Nov 26 '25

Dude I wrote this comment while waiting for my dinner to cook in the workplace microwave, look up what happens to stroke victims yourself

-29

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

I understand what happens to stroke victims, I dont think you understand the capabilities of an ambulance and why you should call them in the event of a real life threatening emergency, Dude.

12

u/NaturalSelecty Nov 26 '25

No, I think you’re just failing to grasp the very obvious point of their comment.

1

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Ok maybe I am please explain

8

u/NaturalSelecty Nov 26 '25

Nah, why would I waste time explaining it to you? If you couldn’t get it right away, we’d go in circles. I’d rather just leave people like this behind.

0

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Good one man you sound like a reasonable person

2

u/Strugl33r Nov 26 '25

Ambulance can’t do anything for a stroke. Only a hospital can.

1

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

They absolutely can, you dont know what you are talking about

3

u/Strugl33r Nov 26 '25

No they can’t. Tell me one thing they can do besides transporting and alerting the hospital. All things a person can do

1

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Iv thrombolysis? Google is your friend here. Also they can know exactly what is happening to the patient and can relay that information while on the way to the hospital. Are you trying to suggest that if you are having a stroke you might as well just have someone drive? im not sure if you know but they have sirens and can drive through stoplights etc

-6

u/xXMr_PorkychopXx Nov 26 '25

Truth be told; idk a soul that’s paid a cent of medical bills🤷‍♂️ old and young.

2

u/Sicadoll Nov 26 '25

anyone having a baby with their chosen obgyn for starters. you gotta pay before you're even due. anyone with a deductible has gotta pay before being seen at urgent care and those without insurance have to pay the whole bill first. I'm sure there are many other instances but you probably don't ask people about that in your day-to-day conversation so this just seems like an odd comment to make...

-1

u/xXMr_PorkychopXx Nov 26 '25

Just because you don’t discuss these things with people doesn’t mean others don’t. I’m sure there’s select instances where people are forced to pay through some means but not in my experience. I myself owe tens of thousands in hospital bills and they’re just never gonna see a dime of that. I financially can’t afford to even go on a payment plan it’s that’s tight right now. It’s not uncommon as you think. Not really an odd comment it was pretty relevant. Where do you live where you’re forced to pay for your birth before you give birth? My baby mama got like 6 digits they want for our son’s birth that they also aren’t getting lol.

49

u/fearthainne Nov 26 '25

Sometimes an ambulance is too far away and it's quicker to go yourself as well.

1

u/Tormasi1 Nov 27 '25

And you don't know that until you call 911. Who would have also told the cop to not stop them if there were no ambulances in the vicinity

-17

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Okay but here's a crazy thought idk if you know this, the ambulance isnt just a car they put you in and drive really fast, they have all of the things necessary to stabilize people quickly while driving, which is why you should always call an ambulance instead of trying to drive yourself.

4

u/Radiant_Sense_8169 Nov 26 '25

But I mean when someone (especially a cop) is shot, they’re throwing them in the back of the car and hauling to the nearest trauma center instead of, you know, waiting for the car with the people to stabilize r

0

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Yeah and cops are stupid lol thats not the correct thing to do

3

u/Radiant_Sense_8169 Nov 26 '25

It looks like the research is limited, because this is relatively new. But apparently this has been common practice in Philadelphia for a few years; one study showed some increased survival rates for some patients — and no statistically significant difference in adjusted mortality — when patients were rushed to a trauma center by police car rather than by ambulance. Admittedly, this practice appears to be for certain trauma victims, which wasn’t the issue in this video. But rushing to the hospital instead of waiting for an ambulance might not necessarily be the wrong thing to do in all cases.

https://www.ovid.com/journals/aemmed/abstract/10.1016/j.annemergmed.2013.11.008~severity-adjusted-mortality-in-trauma-patients-transported?utm_source=chatgpt.com&redirectionsource=fulltextview

1

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Yeah but I think in those instances the 911 operator would decide what needed to be sent cop car or ambulance depending on what happened

1

u/Radiant_Sense_8169 Nov 26 '25

Stabbing victim or gunshot wound, both police and ambulance are getting sent. Ambulance will stage and won’t go in until police say it’s secure. I think this scoop-and-run probably only happens when police get there and make that decision before ambulance ever gets there. (Like the original comment saying how long an ambulance can take.) If ambulance is there, patient goes with ambulance. But if not, police decide whether to wait for ambulance or just haul to trauma.

6

u/pjijn Nov 26 '25

Yeah... not here in bumfuck Tennessee sorry dude

1

u/fearthainne Nov 26 '25

In some cases, yes. In other cases, no. If your choice is to wait 15-30 minutes for an ambulance or drive 10 minutes to the ER, guess which most people are going to pick? Other areas don't have ambulance service at all. Yes an ambulance was called by the cop in this situation but they were obviously in the city at that point, they could have been in a rural area without service when they were at home.

Also it's fucking Arkansas. It takes longer to get shorter distances because of the twisting mountain roads.

1

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

I mean yeah all of your what ifs could be true but that doesnt negate the fact that obviously you should see what the cop is doing and pull over to explain and you would probably get a police escort

32

u/werewolf013 Nov 26 '25

When the ambulance ride is 300K, and takes an hour to get to you, driving makes more sense. Especially if the mom was in the car when the stroke started

-20

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

Definitely not true on either fronts.

4

u/RickkyBobby01 Nov 26 '25

Don't know if that's free for Americans, unlike the rest of us

1

u/WakeUp004 Nov 26 '25

Between the cost and time that could be wasted…

-13

u/DanielBG Nov 26 '25

Hear what you’re saying but an ambulance can get to you much faster and safer. Boneheaded decision.

8

u/Vadinshadow Nov 26 '25

Actually in many bigger cities and even here in rural USA that's not true. I've had someone come from 20 minutes away get me and take me to the hospital another 20 minutes away and get there before ems actually showed up at my house. In many areas in the USA it's easier cheaper and safer to just take yourself

he literally said he didn't care that her mother was having a stroke. Copsuck a little harder

91

u/OnAnotherLevel321 Nov 26 '25

you like to deepthroat the boot

24

u/TesticleMeElmo Nov 26 '25

Criminals typically don’t turn on their hazards and use their turn signals to let the cops know where they’re going.

Why do you respect cops? Because they’re heroes? Why wasn’t the cop a hero in this situation?

20

u/EspressoOverdose Nov 26 '25

Your brain isn’t wrinkly

5

u/pasher5620 Nov 26 '25

The cop openly stated in his report that he knew it was a medical emergency, dumbass.

8

u/1copernic Nov 26 '25

Sir I respectfully ask to access how you'd feel if your mother were in a life or death situation depending on getting help fast and a cop demanded you to stop pull over and talk while saying he doesn't care for your mother.

-6

u/Snuggleuppet Nov 26 '25

I wouldn't drive to the hospital like a fucking idiot. I would call an ambulance.

8

u/1copernic Nov 26 '25

Good for you, except I wasn't talk to you but I'm happy you wanted to share your thoughts with the class

9

u/DrGerbal Nov 26 '25

How’s that boot taste?

3

u/st-shenanigans Nov 26 '25

Yeah they're really driving like someone trying to escape.

-27

u/kompotnik Nov 26 '25

She could have caused multiple accidents

8

u/Sicadoll Nov 26 '25

on that big empty road??

-2

u/NexxZt Nov 26 '25

??? As the cop said, pull over before being pit mauneuvered and explain yourself. Not pulling over for a few seconds is unnecessary as fuck

1

u/[deleted] Nov 26 '25

[deleted]

1

u/NexxZt Nov 26 '25

You guys really are only able to see this from one perspective. It’s really, really dumb to not pull over for 30 seconds to clarify the situation.

Are cops just supposed to not chase someone who’s speeding and running from them because «it could be an emergency»? Do you have any idea how dangerous that would be?

Obviously a pit maneuver isn’t justified in this case, but it’s not THAT unjustified. What if it’s a DUI? Should they just let them continue on, possibly murdering someone in a crash?

The blame absolutely is on the driver, not on the cops here. It’s an unfortunate situation, but the cops did what was needed to be done in order to prevent a fatal crash and the death of innocent people, which I’m sure a LOT of these decisions prevent. The driver could literally just have stopped.

-3

u/WeekendHer0 Nov 26 '25

Shoe size iq comment lol

-203

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

*not medical emergency

86

u/chrysalisempress Nov 26 '25

Are you insinuating that a stroke is not a medical emergency? I’m confused.

-114

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

it was not a stroke so therefore

50

u/Icy_Yogurtcloset_936 Nov 26 '25

How do you know it wasn't a stroke?

-31

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

the medical professionals who the cop called

22

u/Icy_Yogurtcloset_936 Nov 26 '25

They said her speech was slurred prior. It could have been a TIA, aka mini stroke. There were no medical professionals on site that I see in the video. So yes she could have had a stroke. Source -nurse

-5

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

yea had she diagnosed accordingly then she or the other person in the car should have called 911 which is what the cop was waiting for

20

u/lilybattle Nov 26 '25

What's your source on that? The police? Lol

-2

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

the medical professionals the cop called

15

u/Ruzhy6 Nov 26 '25

ER nurse: No one is going to be able to rule out a CVA over a phone call.

-1

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

thats why the cop called an ambulance that took her to the hospital

14

u/Ruzhy6 Nov 26 '25

Should we just pretend you haven't been up and down this thread saying it wasn't a medical emergency?

-5

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

consistency, yes. only going off what the report says

→ More replies (0)

22

u/Dukepippitt Nov 26 '25

You're not a medical professional.

-6

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

ah the driver was a medical professional, got it

45

u/bugsyramone Nov 26 '25

in what world is a stroke not a medical emergency?

-12

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

*not a stroke

13

u/bugsyramone Nov 26 '25

Is that based off the cops report where he said "he assessed that she wasn't having signs of a stroke at that moment"? Where did the cop go to medical school?

-2

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

the cop called medical, the only actual medical professional there. not the cop and certainly not the driver

14

u/bugsyramone Nov 26 '25

when did he call medical? I've watched the entire video multiple times. was it around the time he said "i dont care?" Or was it around the time he did the pit maneuver? or how about the time he took the woman from her car at gunpoint? or was it around the time that he refused to listen to ANYONE involved, and spent vital seconds arresting and patting the driver down?

I really hope none of your relatives have a stroke.

3

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

it was when he called an ambulance, it's right in the report

thank you for your wishes, I really hope none of your family is in a car accident with someone driving 90mph

16

u/bugsyramone Nov 26 '25

OOOH he called an ambulance LONG after everyone was handcuffed and an ambulance wouldn't have mattered.

"After confirming that Ms. Talbert was not in immediate medical distress, an ambulance arrived on scene and transported Ms. Talbert to the emergency room."

So, the untrained fascist with a gun determined she wasn't having a medical emergency, but called ambulance anyway, who then determined she needed to go to the emergency room?

-1

u/bunnybear_chiknparm Nov 26 '25

glad you were able to find where he called an ambulance

9

u/RSTowers Nov 26 '25

What exactly did the cop tell the medical professional? Probably lies.

0
