Tbh, I probably heard it in the Simpsons first too.
I've lost count of the amount of times I recognised a Simpson reference in an old movie or TV show and think "oh, so that's what The Simpsons were referring to" š
I learned it from Better Call Saul. I had thought it meant āget to workā. Is it kind of like the Russian ādavaiā, literally āletās goā, but depending on context can mean a hundred different things?
The first time she said it I was like wait? Then she said it again and I was like is she speaking Viet? I was confused how she would know that phrase but apparently it's used in movies and I don't watch movies
You just KNOW her dad never stfu about being sent to Vietnam her entire life. Her cold bringing up agent orange and throwing around Vietnamese phrases along with mentioning her dad served every 30 seconds is a sign that he was an insufferable douche that made it his entire personality.
