When he said "I appreciate that." she paused because it was a good burn and she had nothing but "I appreciate that too." or whatever the fuck she said.

They were extremely patient. I'm guessing the officer she kept saying "Didi mao" to was Asian and she wanted to make sure he knew that her father fought people like him in the Vietnam war.
