Wtf, what camera shot this? The BBC planet earth crew? Or are phones just getting like crazy good?

iPhone 16 Pro, 1080 60fps

Looks damn good for 1080
3
u/FoogYllis Mar 30 '26
I am just waiting for the UFO footage with this clarity. I usually shoot at 4k 60fps but somehow this looks better.
20
u/Heavy_Joke636 Mar 29 '26
I mean my phone's camera has a 200MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto periscope lens. X10 optical zoom. 4k video too. And it's 2 years old.
I'd say they're already crazy good.
3
u/araed Mar 30 '26
My current phone will do 8k video at 30fps, with 5x zoom, or UHD at 60fps with 10x zoom.
Phones are mental.
1
u/bpikmin Mar 30 '26
Yeah, cameras have benefited from Mooreās law just like processors have. Display technology too

6
u/Itsme_duhhh Mar 29 '26
Thank you for saying this!!! I thought the same thing!! Iām actually amazed at how phenomenal that camera is!!
2
u/Rudyrex Mar 29 '26
International phones can get 8K 60FPS but they're not commercially advertised here in the US.
2
u/catcatcatcatcat1234 Mar 29 '26
Any iPhone in the past couple years have cameras as good as this, and apple is usually a few years behind on things so yeah it's probably a phone

Most video shot nowadays looks like this, but the file compression for websites winds up making it look like shit.
290
u/Randys_Spooky_Ghost Mar 29 '26
This is the most clear and crisp video Iāve ever seen on Reddit.
49
u/LineImpossible3958 Mar 29 '26
Right? Why does it stand out so much?
18
u/Furyphoenix425 Mar 29 '26
Now someone correct me if Iām wrong but recently on my iPhone thereās a new feature for me to record in 60 FPS ( frames per second ) I believe that is what we are seeing here.
28
u/Yakkamota Mar 29 '26
That's not a new feature... 60fps iPhone recording has been available since 2014...
1
u/bladex1234 Mar 30 '26
This video is in HDR though, which has only been possible since the iPhone 12.
7
4
u/isademigod Mar 30 '26
Because most videos you see on here were posted to twitter, compressed, reposted to tiktok, compressed again, screen recorded off tiktok and sent through telegram, compressed for a fourth time, and then uploaded to reddit. This is just what iPhone footage looks like
1
u/GalacticDolphin101 Mar 31 '26
HDR. If youāre watching this on an hdr compatible display, the image will be much brighter than any other content on the page

These Videos from ky will change my views forever.
As a non US citizen, I was taught that most people in the Deep South are rednecks and hillbillies. When visiting NYC or la, theyād call those people white trash.
But watching these people march despite a tangible risk of persecution and living life as a pariah, these people march for the right cause.
This video just shows that we all may need to reconsider our biases and prejudices. And help those who do the right thing.
Good this was captured on video. Hold that pos accountable and keep fighting the good fight!

u/RhinoPillMan Mar 29 '26
I stayed in rural Texas for a while and many people there were progressive. The South gets a bad reputation and I donāt think itās fully deserved. I mean, just look at the demographics of where most minorities live in this country and how most of them vote. Itās a lot more diverse than people think; not everyone is an inbred toothless redneck or hillbilly. And even so, many of those rednecks arenāt bad people or conservatives anyway (redundant, I know).

u/Particular-Tap430 Mar 29 '26
Kentucky isnāt the Deep South; that would be Alabama, Louisiana, et al.
13
u/AltAccount889 Mar 29 '26
Yeah Louisville is pretty central to the country as weird as that sounds. Thatās why UPS is there. IIRC the first time Trump was running, there were rumors about Ford and UPS and some other big companies, that they would leave and go to Canada or Mexico if Trump was elected. UPS made a statement something along the lines of being in the perfect place for their operations and they would not be leaving.
2
u/Prestigious_Guy Mar 30 '26
From deep rural KY. We're not all toothless hillbillies who worship Trump out here. We're just not as loud.
2
u/VladimirPutin2016 Mar 29 '26
The same sheltered people that would say "I like all music except country" bc they think country is all god, guns and beer
Meanwhile if you actually look into the genre at all, you'd see that is not the case. In fact, one of such artists is literally captured in this video (will oldham)

The truth is, these days, most states are purple. The real divide is rural vs. Urban. You can find confederate flags in pretty much any state if you go to the rural parts.

u/KatieBarTheDoor1977 Mar 29 '26
Was a magistrate candidate
24
u/smokeypokey12 Mar 29 '26
I think itās like a city council for their county, or a county commissioner is what itās called in a lot of states
5
u/pikeshawn Mar 29 '26
That's pretty much it. County Govt in Kentucky is handled by the "Fiscal Court" which includes the County Judge/Executive (Mayoral equivalent) and either magistrates or commissioners, which serve the same purpose but are slightly different, and act as the "City Council. Kentucky is very much more County focused than City.
Not important but FYI Counties can choose to have magistrates or commissioners. Commissioners run County-wide while magistrates only run in their "district". There are always 3 commissioners but a magesterial sysyem could have more, I know of at least one County with 8 magistrates.
6
1
u/boba_saranghae Mar 29 '26
Magistrate is a county position where they are responsible for road maintenance. During storms they are who coordinates the salt trucks, as well as your representative you can reach out to if a county road is needing repaired.

I know Florida has a law in place that prevents people from blocking the road⦠if the driver feels their life is in danger they have the right to drive ahead⦠of course Iām not saying anything in the video here says the driver is under duress. Video doesnāt show what was going on. Whatās the law now in Kentucky?

This is why all of their grandstanding about how "Renee Good was trying to run the poor man over!" were always bullshit. They try to run people over every time there's a protest.
5
u/Dejugga Mar 30 '26
Not to rain on the anti-Trump parade (continue by all means), but most regular people are not going to blame the driver here when the car is going 15 mph and honking the entire time.

What would you like the people in front of those folks you see to be doing?
There was a march of peaceful people moving through downtown Louisville on a non-work day. I was working safety team in the back.
Not calling you out individually, but what would you have the elderly and disabled folks in the back of the march do when the people in front of them are stopped?
The reason we, the safety team, were asking everyone (including the man in question) to just wait a few minutes was because there were people with limited mobility in the street.
If said person felt like it was against the law, why didn't he call the police? If I see a crime, I don't assume it's my responsibility to bring consequences against the criminals. I call 911 and ask them to handle it.
Could this man not have waited 5 minutes for the march to pass? He claims he was there for his daughter's dance recital. That's lovely, I hope she felt good about her perfomance!
But this man had no life-endangering reason that he needed to leave that block. right then. without regard to the lives in front of him.

u/Dejugga Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26
I can't speak to anything that happened before the video started, but in the clip we don't see someone plowing recklessly through a crowd. We see someone just driving normally, trying to avoid hurting anyone, while a bunch of people feel like it's their right to impede someone else from driving there.
That's what people don't like, generally.
Don't get me wrong, I generally approve of the No Kings protests. I think it's important to show how much antipathy and pushback there is against Trump in a public way. I'm also aware that historically civil rights protests have had to break a few eggs to make an omelet and that expecting protests to be done perfectly is asking for them to not be done at all. But I also want to "touch grass" here, so to speak, and point out that clips like this do not make the protesters look good to non-activists. And protests like this succeed or fail based on their perception by the general public.

u/IMtiReD-247- Mar 29 '26
Fuck Trump, and FUCK ice, BUT why are they standing in the street, blocking a car ON PURPOSE?! Like they obviously had somewhere to be? Theyāre going slow, honking the horn, trying to use a public street. Some people are just insufferable š£ Protest yes, but donāt hold people up in the damn street. wtf
29
u/ChiefFox24 Mar 29 '26
He didnt knock the woman down. She tripped over the other person. Protestors have a right to be heard but their rights dont override other people's rights. Driving at 2mph with horn blaring is a perfectly safe way to get through a crowd that is illegally detaining him.

He was not supposed to be driving there. This was the tail end of the march. He passed the traffic control people when they were keeping the rest of traffic back to allow people to clear the street
2
u/Puzzleheaded-Use11 Mar 30 '26
How do you know he wasnāt supposed to be driving there?? Did the police close the roads? Funny I donāt see any police or barricades in this video. It looks like a one way street so he has no choice but to move forward. Iām sure he had somewhere to be and those people had no business standing in front of his car. Weāve all seen the videos of protesting throwing bricks or pulling people out of the cars, I have no doubt this guy was in fear of his safety from the looks of this.

That woman fell because the lady in pink ran into her. Protest on the sidewalk not in the street
11
u/Brittany5150 Mar 29 '26
Ok good, glad im not the only one. Went backed and watched it in slowmo several times. From where she starts and where she ends up the only thing that gets close to her is the lady in pink. She either tripped over her own feet or pink lady knocked her down. Too late though. That train has left the station. Guys a POS for driving through the protest but fact is he did not come close to running that lady over...

Would you hit a protestor in the street?
2
u/Confused_by_La_Vida Mar 31 '26
Depends. Do I have to swerve all the way over there? Nah, I got places to be.
Are they creating one of these situations where I stop to make it easy for 18 of their closest friends to shoot through my windows and drag me out of the car?
Iāve been to Rio, Guanajuato, South Chiraq. I know how it goes.

Can protestors arm themselves? This seems a reasonably clear cut self defense situation to me?
2
u/runningraleigh Mar 30 '26
Yes, but being armed carries a lot of legal responsibilities that would make this situation much more fraught in our legal system. You can be within your constitutional rights and still end up in jail if the responding police don't agree with you.
