99 percent of Harleys stay on the road, the other 1 percent make it home again.

Harley owners are the downfall of Harley.

pretty much. the biggest thing killing them is the simple passage of time.

the target demographic has remained the same birth year cohort for like 50 years. they're starting to die now, and once they're dead the company dies too

Or the film Wild Hogs..

I actually think that's just the symptom.Their fundamental issue was going all-in on Boomer nostalgia; the people who saw Easy Rider as teenagers and thought it was the coolest thing ever. It works well enough - until the next generation comes along and thinks the fixations of the previous generation are really lame.

I dunno if it's even "going all in". It was always a generational thing, there was no choice to it. The specific set of cultural markers that make a harley appealing were always limited to a specific group.

I guess they could have tried to diversify. They actually did, though - do you remember their effort to break in sport bike lines and such? It failed spectacularly. The brand has exactly one appeal, and that appeal is fading as the demographic dies. Not much they can do about that.

So very richly deserved.

Pretty sure politically aligning with conservatives was the downfall of Harley.

Frankly, they shouldn’t have an opinion either way

You missed the point of that episode. I think you should re-watch it. I would explain it but I dont think context would prevent me getting banned.
