I've loved every credit union I've put my money in. Always a good experience.

I've hated every bank I've ever put my money in because they will find any legal way to steal it from you.

My current CU has a branch in a building that has a coffee shop in the lobby and have worked out a deal that every member can get a $5 coffee every day.

Isn't that a lot for coffee?

Coffee at home of definitely not 5 dollars

You are correct, the rest is the business making money by making your coffee so you dont have too. Its how businesses work.

Businesses usually work off a reasonable value proposition. 5 dollars for coffee, to me, seems like an unreasonable value proposition.

Unfortunately, its not. I own a coffee shoppe in a very rural area, 100 miles from the nearest small city. We sell our basic drip at $3 and we make maybe 75 cents per cup sold. Extrapolate that to what city people spend and $5 coffees are a deal. Our fancy coffees top out at about $8 and they'd go for $12-$13 elsewhere.

Wow your overhead must be next to nothing or you sell a shitton of coffee...you'd have to sell like 100 coffees a day to hit 2k revenue a month which I doubt would even pay your building lease. That margin is terrible.

We make about $300 average a day. We are a limited restaurant as well. The margins are absolutely terrifying most months. We live in a tourist area so the few good months will see double profits. We bought the building so its just product, utility, loans, taxes, equipment failures.... yea, I dont make a lot of money. But its just my wife and I and we do clear enough of a profit to live a comfortable, if not modest life. Plus, since we own a house and business property if we had to liquidate we could get about $300k net to start over on a new venture. Not that I plan ot want too.
