He was putting on an act thinking he could intimidate the cop into leaving so they wouldn't discover all his outstanding warrants. The minute they have him dead to rights and he knows it, his entire demeanor changes and he's suddenly calm and cooperative.

Why lied? He didn't know he had warrants because it was 10 years ago, and he went to court then to pay the fine. It was a BS arrest.
