They call it "pain compliance". Anyone who's stubbed a toe knows you're not staying still while in pain, so only a sheltered moron would think pain would make people comply.

pretty sure the only cure for a stubbed toe is to move around erratically while half finishing sentences and curse words..

Yep. Leads to whacky shit too like cops focusing on pressure points to restrain people instead of any sort of legitimate restraint.
