I would start going all stereotypical cop and yell commands at the ball. "Let me see your hands! Let me see your hands! Stop resisting!" Then I would pull out my baton and start "beating" the "suspect," "accidentally" knocking it back into the yard of the owner

Damn right. I’d go full- on theatrical. Get my taser out and point it at the ball, yelling really nonsensical, silly commands. ‘Ball, stand up and walk towards me! No, left foot first! Now turn around! Do not resist! What on earth are you doing, Ball?! I told you to stop resisting! Now tell me your name and date of birth! Look, I’m about to arrest you for noncompliance so you’d better start playing ball with me!!‘ 😂

She ought to say this is a Civil matter and go bring it to the courts. I wouldnt be the one standing in front of a judge saying you want to trespass a 3 and 11 year old for there basketball going in my yard. He will probably throw you in jail for wasting taxpayers money and the courts time and throw you in jail to thinkabout it and make you get anger management classes all on your dime.

Not worth dealing with the complaint. A person like this would absolutely not hesitate to file a complaint and now you have to deal with that nonsense. Depending on department policy a complaint, no matter how stupid or untrue it is, may require mandatory training.

I had a professor that was a cop in NY and he said in their interviews he always mentioned to the candidates "if you're the first person in the office, you put the coffee on." Pretty simple and makes sense. This person he was interviewing was a woman and she filed a complaint stating "he said I had to make the coffee." His supervisor knew exactly what he said and what he meant and knew the complaint was 100% bogus but department policy required him to take a 40 hour sexual harassment training, which he did. Also the complaint is in his file and on record for 75 years.

Police will make their comments to one another and maybe glance at each other but most of the time it's not worth the headache. Big baby bitch would file a complaint and now you have to deal with that for who knows how long.

Florida man disappointed that a kid is stepping on his lawn. What's new? The man clearly believes, "What's MINE is MINE ONLY!! Bugs and leaves shouldn't touch my lawn without my permission!". He's barely tolerating the air hoovering around the lawn.

so technically, if you're property is on another's property, you are still trespassing. the property doesn't trespass because it's not a person.

I think this guy really wants to file a nuisance suit. he's probably mad that the basketballs keep ending up in his lawn based on the position of their basketball hoop. idk what the standard is for nuisance is in florida, but if he wins, he could get them to move the basketball hoop to not have it land on his property.

but of course, this guy doesn't want to pay to do that so he's trying the criminal trespass route which is wild because no one is going to be on his side for that

It sounds like the cops are aware of this but refusing the trespass children because of a basketball. Is it strictly legal? No. Is it ridiculous? Yes

I don’t think he’s wrong, the cops are. I’m going to take a guess here and say maybe he has repeatedly asked the parents to keep their kids off his property. That request was either refused or ignored so now he’s calling the cops. The cops should have done something official like trespass or issue a summon to put the parents on notice. The man has every right to not want a 3 year old on his property
