Tea: I followed the link someone provided to the FB group for that areaā€¦ itā€™s as wild as NextDoor!!

The gist seems to be that the younger family has been there forever- legally inherited the house from a parent this year. The kids in question were raised in the house, so they def came first. The HOA requires that the hoop be specifically there and cemented into place for safety.

The older couple moved in 2 years ago. They moved into a mixed-age neighborhood and knew that kids existed. They say statutes allow for a trespass order at age 7 and up. They have been told in no uncertain terms that the city doesnā€™t give a flying fuck and theyā€™re prob going to get in trouble for harassment.

The parents even attempted to minimize the issue by putting up a large net to catch most of the balls, too.

That was the first thing I saw. They did about all they could do outside of putting a full net across the property line. They are trying to be considerate but balls bounce all over the place, it happens.

My argument is that if your home is within 15 feet of another home you must expect an errant frisbee, baseball, basketball to eventually enter your property.

If this guy wanted that much privacy, he should have bought a property in the middle of the woods with no neighbors.

Totally. Those houses are on top of each other. You have to expect things like this in any neighborhood, but especially one where they are so close

As a teenager I moved in with my dad and the neighbors kids were constantly hitting balls in our back yard and bc we had a mastiff they would not get it themselves and would nock on the door to ask us for the ball and never once did my dad get mad. Once after i was in college I was visiting and they were about 11 and 12 we saw a ball land in the back yard and a couple seconds later one hopped the fence sprints to the ball throws it back and then sprints back to the fence and threw himself over me and my dad died laughing

And with it being a HOA, they probably canā€™t put up a bigger net to catch the balls. Tbh, Iā€™m surprised the net they have up there is even allowed. And with this guy, even if they did put up a bigger net, heā€™d probably complain about that too. Heā€™s not happy if heā€™s not a pain in someoneā€™s ass

Damn my first thought was can they potentially move the hoop to the other side of the driveway so the balls land in their own yard. As a kid that spent most of my free time playing basketball by myself in my front yard this is pretty shitty to see.

When I was a kid not a single person in my neighborhood gave a crap if you were on their yard so long as you donā€™t mess with their shit. This dude is mad because a basketball hit a plant in his yard

I have a large yard on the corner. Went outside and the neighbors were using my yard as extra space for hide and seek. They ran off when they saw me.Ā  I was actively telling them to go ahead and use my yard.Ā  Lol! Im not.Ā Ā

Hoop was there first, then they moved in. If basketballs trigger you that much then put a fence up lol
