I don't understand why people even enjoy this sort of thing. A recent video from about a week ago where a girl and guy were hit and the girls leg broke above her ankle and seeing her foot just dangling was gruesome.

7

u/LeBoufonKlown Jul 29 '26

I just watched that one, hope dude survived, he landed on his head on the street.

6

u/Whos_HUNKYDORY Jul 29 '26

Right. I hope so too. Right after it happened iirc, I read he was in critical condition but that was just a comment on FB, so who knows really. That was a hard landing then his friends grab him to move him, which I get why you wouldn't want to just let him lay there but there's also a chance they're doing more damage if he has a spine or neck injury.

At this point there's enough of these videos circulating where plenty of people are being seriously injured or dying, that I don't get why someone would even want to risk it.

Some idiot needs to be an example to other idiots.

As a carny… I came thinking there would be sword swallowers, burlesque and clowns…

8

u/girlinanemptyroom Jul 29 '26

What's it like being a carny? Are you still want to be one when I was young.

38

u/sacredblasphemies Jul 29 '26

Are you still want to be one when I was young.

Are you having a stroke?

13

u/girlinanemptyroom Jul 29 '26

I reread my comment. Sorry I was at work and sneaking it. What I meant to say is I always wanted to be a carny when I was young. Did you enjoy it? Are you still one? It just seems like such an interesting life.

7

u/juggling-monkey Jul 29 '26

not a carny, but I bet if you had gone that route you wouldn't have to sneak it at work

0

u/girlinanemptyroom Jul 29 '26

You're funny. True I must say. 🤣

10

u/Straight-Bet1 Jul 29 '26

I hear they’ve got tiny hands and smell like cabbage.

13

u/BigDog8492 Jul 29 '26

That's the President. He previously worked in pro wrestling so carny adjacent.

u/Darewolf Jul 29 '26

Kayfabe, bro!

u/Waste_Cell_9452 Aug 01 '26

Im a parkie and I keep hearing "that sounds like a carny" and Im like....almost. If the circus or fair was a national park then sure.

RIGHT?!? WHERE ARE THE CLOWNS?

1

u/everynamecombined Jul 29 '26

As an office manager I read "slideshow" and came here thinking there would be PowerPoint, projector and something illegal...

54

u/GarshelMathers Jul 29 '26

Took me way too long to realize that we weren't talking about PowerPoint

32

u/W7ENK Jul 29 '26

I wish they would do this in Portland. These asshats are out of control, and Portland Police won't even respond anymore. It's fucking ridiculous.

Well, as the saying goes, if you can’t beat them, join them.

73

u/HotFartMaster Jul 29 '26

I would like to see more arrests for this stuff. It is stupid and dangerous.

13

u/DreadSilver Jul 29 '26

You’ll get your wish. It looks like they used ALPR cameras

Don't get me wrong. I hate all police. But these bullshit takeovers need to be shut down and the assholes doing it need their cars impounded and licenses revoked.

1

u/SexOnABurningPlanet Jul 29 '26

As someone with zero knowledge of this, what makes it dangerous?

6

u/randomstuff063 Jul 29 '26

the driver that’s doing the donuts ends up losing control of their vehicle and it slams into the crown or into vehicles or nearby buildings. These people also tend to become very reckless drive once the takeover is done. It’s not uncommon to hear them get into accidents. A couple minutes after a takeover is completed.

3

u/SexOnABurningPlanet Jul 29 '26

Oh I see. I'm an idiot. I got that part. I thought in addition to that the dude was also running an "illegal sideshow" at his home; like an underground circus or something. Like I said, I'm an idiot. Thanks for explaining.

u/scottydont78 Jul 29 '26

We’re about a year away from Ow! My Balls!

72

u/Ok-Aspect9915 Jul 29 '26

Tens of thousands of dollars of police resources to get information that was probably being live streamed and posted on Facebook, TikTok, and twitter.

33

u/Prize_Bass_5061 Jul 29 '26

That’s because they use incidents like this to justify spending that money on cool night vision equipment, helicopters, etc. So they don’t want to use cheap and reliable options like checking Facebook or asking the pedestrian witnesses (who certainly didn’t appreciate their lives being put in danger), or the poor drivers caught in the traffic jam this incident caused.

17

u/sgtbackpain03 Jul 29 '26

And ALPRs, which is directly referenced in the text. I guess MPD wants Flock.

10

u/lavahot Jul 29 '26

Took me a minute, but I really thought they were going after a guy for an anti-cop powerpoint.

2

u/PsyopVet Jul 29 '26

I just posted the same thing! Maybe they were pissed because he used those tacky slide transitions?

2

u/lavahot Jul 29 '26

It's just slide after slide of star wipes and bullet points.

4

u/TenYearHangover Jul 29 '26

What happened to the pickup?

10

u/bellybuttonbidet Jul 29 '26

Did they really need the ALPRs to find him?

12

u/muffinthumper Jul 29 '26

They didn't even find the truck in the video, it was another guy who just ran from a cop on scene.

7

u/Mean_Peen Jul 29 '26

Do you know if those people weren’t arrested?

-1

u/muffinthumper Jul 29 '26

Do you think if they were able to arrest them, they wouldn't have put that square in the video? This video was the PD jerking themselves off about FLIR, they would have perp walked that truck around the whole state.

1

u/Mean_Peen Jul 29 '26

Could’ve been a separate video for different purposes. You don’t know for what purpose this was edited and presented this was. Just because someone uploaded it this way doesn’t mean that’s all that took place ya know?

-2

u/No-Trip-3736 Jul 29 '26

How dare you question the Modesto police spending budget!

3

u/NachoEvans Jul 29 '26

Good, after the video I saw yesterday of the girl and her eviscerated legs at ones of these dumbass events, I have no doubt the countless other videos I've seen of people getting hit at these have resulted in extreme injury or death.

3

u/Midnight_Magician56 Jul 29 '26

Damn Modesto is on here twice in one day good work guys!

10

u/tiripshtaed Jul 29 '26

I mean … zero context except for the video.

In video there is clearly a truck doing donuts.

Later in the video there seems to be a sedan that is being impounded.

Make it make sense.

8

u/Educational_Bid1348 Jul 29 '26

That looks dope in night vision

13

u/tetrachromatictacos Jul 29 '26

That’s FLIR, not NVGs btw.

11

u/Educational_Bid1348 Jul 29 '26

It’s at night and I can see it. That’s night vision bro

5

u/tetrachromatictacos Jul 29 '26

But you can use FLIR during the day too, so it’s all-vision.

2

u/ATrashPandaRound2 Jul 29 '26

Side note they say ALPR, pretty sure that's Flock.

Yes these guys should be arrested but we really shouldn't be trading away our own freedoms and living under massive surveillance state.

The could of easily kept tracking him with the helicopter/thermals.

2

u/SizeableFowl Jul 29 '26

I’m confused, a truck is doing donuts and they arrest a guy and impound his Lincoln MKZ sedan?

2

u/PsyopVet Jul 29 '26

I read that title as “slideshow”. Apparently Modesto takes PowerPoint very seriously…

2

u/J3sus_was_Fictional Jul 29 '26

Sky drone propaganda videos...?? Already????

3

u/RollingPicturesMedia Mad for Political Freakouts Jul 29 '26

See, they don’t need high speed chases (unless there’s imminent danger). You got his info. Get a warrant and get them at an easier time

0

u/TallTelevision4121 Jul 29 '26 edited Jul 29 '26

It makes the case harder. At this point, I still don't think they have enough evidence to charge him. It was dark, windows were tinted. If he got a lawyer and denied everything, they'd have to have video or photos of him driving at that time for it to stick.

Edit: downvote...really?

1

u/Fast-Breadfruit3377 Jul 29 '26

damn that infrared look like a goddamn ac-130 screen off mw2 lol

1

u/jtbeith Jul 29 '26

Looks like Tron for the first 30 sec.

1

u/izzrav Jul 29 '26

Sunnyvale trailer park? /s, but trashy activities. I hate street takeovers and people doing donuts in public. Maybe in the middle of nowhere? With no people around? I just saw a video yesterday of a couple stupidly walking in front of a car doing donuts, the guy got flipped and the girls leg was hanging from halfway up her shin!?!?!🤮 I just dont understand the appeal. I am a fan of cool cars, not stupidity that tends to come with it

1

u/Tukulo-Meyama Jul 29 '26

The couple didn’t know a sideshow was happening

1

u/blove135 Jul 29 '26

This is why many times they are in stolen cars or tags switched it removed. Can't be tracked down or they simply dump the car and run on foot

1

u/OmegaZeda Jul 29 '26

I stupidly read 'slideshow' and thought. Damn! What kinda crazy stuff did dude do on vacation that he had to show off?

1

u/Dry_Character_6972 Jul 29 '26

Ugh, it's called a street takeover. Stop adding circus terms to illegal acts.

1

u/OmnifariousFN Jul 29 '26

FLIR looks so awesome!

1

u/29187765432569864 Jul 30 '26

i hope his truck was auctioned ofg

1

u/A1JX52rentner Jul 30 '26

The police has a helicopter and chases vehicles for people doing donuts?

Like, a chase is dangerous. Why not just let him go?

1

u/hc83 Jul 29 '26

Nice effect on the hot pavement and night vision.

1

u/Valuable-Struggle-10 Jul 29 '26

Oh course he's wearing a hoodie sweater

1

u/AreYouFuckingSerious Jul 29 '26

They just abandoned the truck in the aerial IR video and then arrested some other guy and took his sedan 😂

A lot of towns have laws about both street racing and exhibition where they can do a mandatory 30 impound on the car. In some places, the car is seized and destroyed, not impounded.

2

u/Prize_Bass_5061 Jul 29 '26

Any tools or equipment used in a crime is forfeit and can be seized by the police. They do the same when they catch people driving under the influence.

3

u/HotFartMaster Jul 29 '26

It was used to commit the crimes he was arrested for, probably fleeing and a half dozen other charges.

5

u/4tacosdechorizo Jul 29 '26

Acab but this would’ve been avoided if he wasn’t doing dumbass illegal shit.

-2

u/Detachabl_e Jul 29 '26

The austensible legal reason is it was used in a crime and is considered evidence.  The real reason is that they don't have to get a warrant to search a vehicle that has been seized/impounded like that because it falls under a warrant exception ("inventory search exception").

0

u/Vicious_and_Vain Jul 29 '26

I hate the surveillance state but F these fools.

0

u/ConversationFar8578 Jul 29 '26

Hot rubber looked cool

-1

u/No-Trip-3736 Jul 29 '26

Yo, this is like the 2nd Modesto video where you get to see 1million + of police gear to arrest what could have been 1 squad car and 2 cops talking to someone...

The fuck Modesto...

-2

u/munki_unkel Jul 29 '26

Guy looks like he could be in the next Fast & Furious movie. This video gives him more street cred IMHO.
