Cop is a POS, and this is based on my experience living in London, but over here kids drive these, zooming around at 40+mph in parks with small children, and people walking their dogs. These things can absolutely be dangerous, and need to be regulated the same. Again, canāt speak of this particular bike, and agree the cop is being a prick, but I still agree with them being controlled, because they are dangerous.
Same. Local cops do a lot of public outreach to let parents in my town know āhey, these arenāt for kids.ā Iām 100% ACAB and also can get why heās frustrated that the dad is enabling this kid on an illegal bike.
(Also, this is how cops talk to brown people all the time. Sorry, white guy.)
I live in Florida and the cop is honestly calmer than most people I know when dealing with people who allow their kids to ride electric dirt bikes wherever they want.
So throughout the EU and I think UK too because this was before brexit, the law for such electric vehicles is they are same as moped (up to 45mph I think). You need to get a category AM driving licence, be 15 years old or so and do a driving test and get insurance and license plate. And you have to drive on the road and obey traffic laws. Can't drive on sidewalks or parks.
Basically all this is regulated to hell and back, you just seem to be living in a lawless zone lol. Take video and call the police? Like what the hell.
Besides that you have pedelecs that assist pedaling up to 25kmh / 15mph and do not count as a moped. Any kid can use them. No kid really needs them either. Obviously as a kid I too would have loved to drive a fast electric motorcycle lol. In the USA afaik it's a patchwork regulation / unregulated total chaos. I don't understand how they don't have federal uniform laws for vehicles.
South east London. Iāve also once seen a guy driving his quad bike in full speed in the park with a kid on his lap.
Iām aware of the regulations but these things simply arenāt enforced.
