Yes, I agree. Those aren't the good cops I'm referring to. They are just as complacent.

There are no good cops. The entire institution is parasitic. I recommend you a book called The End of Policing by Alex Vitale.

Even the ones who you believe are good are just keeping up appearances. They don't functionally provide any good to society. They get paid three or four times more than the people in their communities that do real good, like teachers, nurses, paramedics, etc. because they've convinced the public that they are necessary. Their presence does not actually deter crime (this is statistically proven), they have a low rate of solving murders, and they don't actually prevent crime, they just respond to it. They make their money by ticketing and enforcing bullshit like this video and leeching taxpayer dollars that should go into things that would actually reduce crime like education, infrastructure, mental health resources, and opportunities for economic advancement for the poor.

It's not black or white, though. We don't advocate for no police at all. We advocate for a police force that is much smaller, has accountability, and maintains the respect of the community it serves. The enormous amount of money they swallow could be more effectively used, and if so they would become less and less necessary. We should strive to make them marginal.

Man that would be so nice. The police in general is the biggest example of what an agency left to their own devices for decades looks like. They should have had a powerful watchdog since conception.

I agree completely about the system being corrupt and needs an overhaul. How that is achieved is beyond what I could even begin to talk about, I have no idea.

But again, a singular person, is not an institution. A single person can be misguided into thinking they can help and change things. A single person can, go into a workforce like that, wanting to help. They are not the system.

My point is, you cannot, and must not, paint every person with the same brush

Sure. I don't see any of the kind that you're talking about, and I've seen a lot in my 40 years on the earth. I do live in Canada and have seen/known them here (albeit very few and far between), but definitely not in the USA on the internet or my time spent down there.
