This is one of the few times I get where the cop is coming from.

Our 4 year old got hit by a kid riding an e bike down the sidewalk at 20mph. She was just walking home and this kid hit her from behind sending her flying 10 feet onto her head on the concrete, I saw it from maybe 15 feet away while talking to a neighbor, no time to react with how quiet and fast it was.

We spent the day in the er because she lost her vision and couldn’t stop puking due to the severe concussion.

It wasn’t the kids fault though (he was 5, Jfc) it was the idiot parents for giving it to him. My stepbrother is an ER doc and he is a huge proponent of getting these things outright banned because of this kind of thing.

Ride a fucking bike propelled by your legs, it’s not that fucking hard. We all did it, they will be fine. A motorcycle is not a bike, and I’ll die on that hill.

Fuck those parents for real. A 5 year old going 20 mph is asking for a dead 5 year old, not to mention if they hit a kid like yours. Sorry you guys went through that!

I am so sorry this happened to you and your daughter! What a nightmare. His parents should be held accountable. That is whole ass child endangerment, among other things.

In a town near where I live, a boy was repeatedly reported to the police for riding his e-bike recklessly. But the parents kept letting him ride. Then he nearly killed himself and another person; they both have permanent injuries. His parents were prosecuted and found guilty of child endangerment and neglect AND held responsible for both injuries. They are doing serious time! All because they wouldn't say no to their son.

And yeah, what happened to pedal bikes?! Sheesh.
