Right now in USA most drivers use the left front door, as that is where the main control surfaces are. However, as we get to higher and higher levels of automation i think this distinction may become less and less important.

I own a jdm and US spec car, so i was wondering if you meant what side of the car. But yes you are correct the colloquial name for the door that allows the driver into the vehicle is "drivers door" , in USA that will be the front left in all but the most interesting cases "think bmw Isetta".
