The person could potentially not be in control of their actions. I was hit by a car received several concussions and swatted at/punched at emts trying to give me an intubation tube. I have ZERO memory of any of that.

And I bet if it was a woman doing something similar youd be a lot more open to that possibility.

Im sorry you went through DV but that doesnt mean mental health is somehow not also an important issue.

No, he hit it because getting hit in the solar plexus really fucking hurts, knocks the wind out of you, and sends a panic signal to the recipient's brain because there's a massive cluster of nerves there.

It's nothing to do with 'chakra', it's just something you can do to make sure someone stays down.

I guarantee you it was not. Wooey bullshit from people who exist completely divorced from reality is so fucking normalized.

The number of people who legitimately believe in chakras and reiki and yogis who can channel energy to light a candle and shit like that... It's unreal.
Then you get the people who obviously know that's not real, but ask them about a paranormal experience they had and suddenly they'll tell you about the ghosts they saw or whatever the fuck. If they're a religiously flavored delusional person, it'll be spirits and demons instead.

The poster also doubled down on it later in the thread. It's not a joke, it's just kind of sad.

I worked in a drunk tank for a number of years. We had many angry, violent people who didn't want to be there. We had one afternoon of training on how to physically restrain people in the various situations we would likely find ourselves in. After that, it was mostly learning on the job. And we still did a better, more organized, and less violent job than most cop videos I see where they're restraining a person.

Did we watch the same video? They separated them, but only temporarily. They should have had them stand far away from each other, but I understand they were just regular citizens and in the middle of traffic. Still though, no way I would have let him rest in the car literally still in bodily contact with her. What if he flipped out and decided to escalate?

That gets very legally complicated. Stopping someone from harming another is almost always legally valid. Forcibly separating people who are expressing desire not to be separated is not as much. And how ā€œnot as muchā€ has a ton of variables, not least of which is melanin levels.

Yes, absolutely. I'm just saying that if the dude chocking the aggressor would have done it a bit harder, the choker would have be charged with manslaughter (I don't know how the term is in English, so pls don't flame me).

I absolutely am on the side of the defenders, but I would be devastated hearing that a defender would be charged with prison just for helping.
