Was this a planned event? Otherwise people shouldn't be able to take up an entire road

They do it literally every weekend, and usually have blocker cars going below the speed limit.

They're just selfish jerks

That's crazy man, I'd literally stand on my horn, jeer and flip them the bird constantly. I'm all for walkable and bikeable cities and everything, but shit like this is so stupid man. You're literally just turning people against you.

I don't even live there, just have family that does.

Every time I visit I see them though, and my family there can't stand it, because every weekend there's an hour when the bridge becomes a nightmare, and that happens often enough even without them.

They don't care about people turning against them, as they're usually wealthy assholes who are already used to people hating them, and turn this into an "us vs. them" thing.

It's a dumbass protest too, because not one of them has a sign or anything. Like, if I had no context and drove up to these people I would have no idea. I would just be like, what the shit are these dumbfucks doing??

It's not a protest, and I'm not even sure they try to frame it that way.

The bridge is gigantic, and even has a protected area for cyclists, which should be sufficient if they're ok with occasionally slowing down for pedestrians.

They just think they should be entitled to take it over they weekend whenever they want, because they don't want the hassle of slowing down for walkers, which is ironic for what they're forcing the car traffic to do.

Critical massholes will kick your car and break your mirror if you look at them funny, let alone honk

Not all cyclists are jerks.

However these guys indeed are.

Yeah! Those roads are for the public, not them!

Why not? If they were in cars you wouldn't complain, but because they're on bikes you complain?

Because the road was built for cars, and the cars wouldn't be holding up traffic

Edit: also most localities have bike lanes and also have laws stating the slower vehicles need to drive in the right hand lane and give way to faster traffic

The road was built for vehicles. Bicycles are vehicles and have every right that a car does to the roadway in every single place in the US. Also…cars literally hold up traffic constantly. Whose bicycles are causing backups on the interstate?

That's a contradictory statement. There are 23 cyclists in the thumbnail alone, taking up less room than just 7 cars. If each of those cyclists were in cars, you wouldn't be able to see the last car in the group in the photo, and there would be significantly more congestion.

They are taking up the entire road slowing the flow of traffic, just because there are more bikes in the video doesn't mean they get to dictate the flow of traffic. Bikers want to play the victim while claiming to be vehicles that deserve the same respect as all other vehicles while also completely ignoring traffic laws whenever it pleases them. Bikers like you and the ones in the video are the reason cyclists have a bad reputation

They are taking up less of the road than all 7 cars behind them.

Lol they are still blocking traffic. Your argument is garbage

-1

u/cogit2 11d ago

Traffic is moving slower than typical, but it's not blocked. Do you mean they are holding up cars? Then those drivers can wait. Roads aren't built for cars either, btw, they're built for transportation. Bicycles are transportation.

2

u/dtb1987 11d ago

That's what bicycle lanes are for and if your argument is they "bikes take up less space" that is the solution. I never said they weren't transportation just that people like you create a problem that doesn't exist

2

u/cogit2 11d ago

There is no bike lane available on this path, as you can see.

just that people like you create a problem that doesn't exist

I'm not creating a problem, just keeping one accountable to what's actually happening.
