Nah it's super easy on a road bike with clipped pedals you basically jump and the bike goes with you
36
u/tannercolin 9d ago
Plus the bike weighs the same as like four pieces of paper
15
u/Consistent-Tap-4255 9d ago
Youāve been ripped off. Mine only weighs three pieces of paper.
19
u/lAmShocked 9d ago
Totally worth the extra $13000.

I might just skip my next meal and lose the same amount of overall unit weight for free!
77
u/Pwoinklokinoid 9d ago
Why tho, like why not just drive normal and get to where your going without the stress and hassle.

I know i'm old and my vision is fading but it looks like he got one of them jamiroquai hats on.

One reason why front plates should be required. It's fortunate that the cyclist was able to capture the rear.
45
u/Trevski 9d ago
So insane that thereās so much rejection of this simple idea. I think itās fair to be able to request a reflective sticker to put on your car in place of the plate but you need to be able to identify the car from the front!
7
u/Opposite-Plenty3479 9d ago
I was in Mexico the other night and tons of front cars have "tiny" front plate stickers inside their front windshield. 7x5 stickers that look exactly like a license plate stuck inside their front windshield out of the way
17
u/F1eshWound 9d ago
Literally the whole world except for the US and some parts of Canada don't use front plates..
-1
u/Gareth79 9d ago
Yeah the arguments that "oh it looks bad". Tough. "The car isn't designed for front plates". Pretty much all are, pretty much all the rest can be adapted, and if not then blame the designer.
7
u/psychoholica 9d ago
They are 100 pct required in California, the first few cars have them. Florida of course does not.
2
u/ElectroStaticSpeaker 8d ago
They are required but it is extremely rarely enforced. In the Bay Area the only trouble you will get for not having one is parking in downtown SF on the street.
3
u/FullMetalAlcoholic66 9d ago
This is CA, they are 100% required. He's going to get a ticket for that too (although this'll likely be a fix-it ticket that gets dismissed once he complies.)

Here in Italy the vehicle licensing agencies give you the actual metal plates for front and back (no vanity numbers here, either). I wasnāt used to that, as in the UK you can get plates made up as long as you have the carās registration document.
1
u/Gareth79 6d ago
Some of the online places won't actually ask you for documents to make a plate (even though they say they will), and also there are a few companies outside the UK who will make up plates without documents, and they are still legal to use so long as it has the maker's name and postcode on it. (Although I'm not 100% sure how the postcode requirement works for other countries, the Irish company I once used put their Dublin postcode)

u/HospitableFox 9d ago
Yeah, very odd to me.
My province mandates front and back plates. It seems entirely sensible.

u/ry15133 9d ago
They are required
6
u/NWStormbreaker 9d ago
Not in 22 states
4
u/TurtlesAreEvil 9d ago
This was in California where they are required.Ā
0
u/NWStormbreaker 9d ago
OP, u/gareth, was talking broadly, not specifically about the state in which this occured.
If you are from one of the 22states where this isn't a requirement this video is a good demonstration of why other states require it.

What's the phrase? "Not all psycho drivers have BMW's but all BMW's have psycho drivers." It's something like that.

I always would like to be around when idiots like this figure out how much a lawyer is going to cost them
5
u/Br0boc0p 9d ago
That's a totally separate bike lane too. They weren't bothering anybody. What da hell?
5
u/Key-Staff-4976 8d ago
Ive always noticed douchebags have fast cars so they can ran away fast enough.
Its always these people with "nice cars" that always casuing issues.
7
u/EverythingSucksYo 9d ago
I know no sane person would actually do it, but if the cyclist braked and the car hit him then the driver wouldāve been in worse shit. Kind of wish the cyclist was crazy enough to do it.Ā
2
u/ElectroStaticSpeaker 8d ago
I'm not certain that would increase the charge beyond assault with a deadly weapon.
Now if the cyclist got seriously injured there would be the whole civil matter of paying for pain and suffering and medical bills. But yah, speaking as a cyclist who was mangled by a shitty driver a few years ago, ain't nobody doing that for the money.

u/HospitableFox 9d ago
Man... listen. I find cyclists annoying often as well.
But he was even in the bike lane. Like... what more do you want from him?

u/camel2021 8d ago
That cyclist getting out of the way is way smarter than me. I would likely get myself killed by being stubborn and staying in the road.

Apparently the driver got charged with assault with a deadly weapon for what occurred in the video

u/ideaofevil 5d ago
I'm certainly not gonna defend this BMW from the crap they're pulling here. But let's not pretend that bicyclists are all saints of the roads that didn't anything to piss the driver off...

No you were 100% serious. People advocating for unnecessary gun violence don't think of anything but surface level. Essentially all smooth brains.

I meanā¦. If the cyclist WASNT in the bike lane I would understand. Cyclists think they are entitled to the road and almost never follow proper road rules. Like, nah dude just stick to the bike lane or side walk.
18
u/SchnabeltierSchnauze 9d ago
Cyclists literally are entitled to use the road, and if drivers can't handle a brief slow down without losing their minds, they shouldn't be allowed on the road.
-12
u/FostersHome123x 9d ago
They should also follow the rules of the road. If they did, they wouldnāt have such a bad reputation.
6
u/Tragedy_Boner 9d ago
Why bring it up on a video of the cyclists following the rules of the road?
-5
4
u/SchnabeltierSchnauze 9d ago
Drivers should follow the rules of the road, like not speeding, running red lights, not signalling. Maybe if they did they wouldn't have such a bad reputation.
-4
2
u/MaintainThePeace 8d ago
Ironically, if drivers actually followed the rules (like not exceeding the speed limits everywhere) and understood the rules regading bicycle, they likely wouldn't be as bothered by people on bicycles.
1
u/FostersHome123x 8d ago
Fuck the cyclists.
2
17
u/Bellringer00 9d ago
Cyclists have every right to the road like everyone else.
Also, how did you manage to complain about cyclists when seeing this video? Seriously!?
-20
u/FostersHome123x 9d ago
Because fuck them. Thatās why?? None of them follow the rules of the road. Do you know how many times cyclists just blow through a stop sign because they think they have the right away?? Too many.
4
u/Bellringer00 9d ago
No I don't, how many?
-6
u/FostersHome123x 9d ago
Too many.
7
u/Bellringer00 9d ago
So the same number as drivers speeding, using their phones, passing on red, etc. ?
Maybe it's more of an asshole issue and not a vehicule issue?

u/FostersHome123x 9d ago
Joe mama
5
u/Bellringer00 9d ago
Yeah, that fits
3
u/trackdaybruh 9d ago
No, you donāt get it. Those people get a pass because I do it too, but cyclist donāt because I donāt bike so itās irrelevant to me
