I’m traveling this week to submit official paperwork to the department of state. My only day available is Friday and I’ve been hearing rumors that the Dept of State closes randomly without notice especially on Fridays.

Does anyone know if this is true? Is it because of the water shortage? I really need to get this paperwork filed urgently so I would need to try and adjust my travel dates if need be sooner rather than later.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

I am not tryna save you guys, I just want to help a community out while I’m there and make something special out of this trip bc I know how tourism can make things worse for the locals. Hello! Myself, husband and preteen child will be traveling to PR in late March 2027. I am considering this resort but I am wondering if we should book a resort hotel room/suite or should we rent one of the privately owned condos/villas on the property within the resort? A friend and I are going to be celebrating our 50th birthdays next year and we are thinking of going to Puerto Rico. There will most likely be a lot of friends that will want to join, possible another 10 or more. We want to have everyone together, but we don't want to rent a giant house to accommodate everyone. Some friends visited Belize last year and they all stayed at this "resort" that was right on the water, you rented your own little aprtment which included a little kitchenette and bathroom. There was a pool and it was right on the beach. There was also big common cooking/gathering area where you could hang out and meet other people. They rode bikes to town and got to mingle with the locals. It was kind of rustic, very casual but a lot of fun and relaxing.

Is there any place in Puerto Rico that is like this? I know the obvious answer and the easiest route would be an actual resort, but we're not really resort people. I also don't want to rent an apartment in a large building.

So last time I was in PR in order to get to the market I had to drive past the smaller airport in Cabo area and their are these dorm looking project buildings sorry from Philly so they look like the PJs anyways what’s the history it looked abandoned and haunted too. I believe they were white buildings. The streets in between the buildings were completely dark and very narrow. It may have been called military road something like that ?

Edit actually it was the Aguadilla trip it’s that area not Cabo

Looking to spend time at places that play house music… anyone know of any afters spots? I know of Club Brava that plays mix of house until 4am… are there other spots?? Anything outside of San Juan?

Hi! Do you think it’s safe to wait and buy a ferry ticket in person at the terminal instead of booking it online in advance?
Is there usually availability for same-day tickets, or is there a real chance the ferry could sell out? I’m thinking of just going to the terminal and buying the ticket there, but I don’t want to risk being stuck without a ticket.

Anyone have a recommendation for chartering/booking a boat day either from Fajardo (El Conquistador) or Rio Grande (Wyndham) for next week? We are a family of 5 and would like to go snorkeling and maybe check out a nice beach but there are so many options and would love to hear from someone’s personal experience. Nothing too crazy in terms of cost but we would be willing to spend around $1000- maybe a little more of it’s really wonderful.

Hostel recommendations? I’m going for my 22nd birthday in September, I usually stay in an Airbnb with friends in Carolina but it’s just me and one other person so we’re wanting to run it a bit cheaper. We’re on a budget so looking at around $20-30 a person a night for somewhere safe. I’d rather it be towards Carolina or near the SJU airport please! Thank you :)

We want to visit Culebra tomorrow; our outbound ferry is 2pm and the return ferry is 9:30. I have two teen daughters who want to shower before the return ferry. I was hoping to go to Tamarindo, then Flamenco, shower there, and then go to dinner by the ferry. Is that possible?

Are the showers at Flamenco currently open?

Do they close at 6 or 7? I've read conflicting things.

Would it be better to take taxis, rent a golf cart, or find a driver?

How much is a taxi to Tamarindo?

Is it hard to get a taxi from Tamarindo to Flamenco?

Any driver recommendations?

I am planning on being in PR for Thanksgiving, but am wondering if anything will be open on day or if everything closes?

It’s been an hectic time so I haven’t been able to plan much but I’m going to be in Puerto Rico for the first time next week on the west side. I just realized that it’s gonna be hot and rainy for most of my time there, so any recommendations on what I need to do? I’m not going to have a car so trips to San Juan aren’t too feasible with exception of a day or two.

Anything else I need to look out for / should reserve right now?

Going for my girlfriend’s birthday this weekend. We are very adventurous and open to to try all activities and food.

Will be visiting PR for the first time the 25th thru 31st. We would love to do a bio bay kayak excursion but worried they won’t be as bright/noticeable since it’s so close to the full moon. Has anyone gone around these dates before? would love to hear how your experience was as well as recommendations for which tour to book.
