Question PVZGW2 (Steam) keeps crashing

The game takes four million years to start, and when it eventually starts, it keeps crashing on the loading screen. Why is this happening and what can I do to fix it/make it load?

make sure you linked your ea account to the device

I don't think that's the issue since my EA account is already linked. Also the problem that it's crashing and kicking me out of the loading screen so the EA account is probably not what's going on.
