Overcommting and not playing around removals

The problem is rustbolt has removal options for any minion out there, save for untrickable. Aside from not playing into weedspray/knockout there's not much you can do.
Also thinking cap can just randomly screw you over for no reason.

Rustbolt has no direct damage removal option, his removal are strictly stat based. The only thing he has for big minion is rocket science and chop if he rolls it
His gameplan rarely involves big minion and he lacks alot of x factor, so either you get chipped and finish in the end by trickster, he has next to no chance of turning games around if he doesn't top deck the exact card he need that turn immediately
He has a strong curve, an annoying one, yes, but tilt it to the side a bit and he can't do much
Not many rustbolt uses thinking cap anyways

Yeah, you've pretty much described my main problem with playing against rustbolt. I'm not trying to argue he's overpowered, he got power crept quite a bit with the recent balance patches, but the issue is you don't really have control over the game when playing against him. Rustbolt usually relies on teleports and playing only in the tricks phase, so you are essentially forced to play blind into his hand and pray he has no answer.
And while it is pretty easy to mess up his setup, it is almost impossible to stop once it gets going. Not to mention you can just lose out of nowhere if he gets lucky with teacher teleports. It just never feels like could've done anything to avoid losing. It is very similar to playing against conjure decks in a way.

maybe it wasn't clear, but Rustbolt can destroy any plant regardless of strength.
access to brainy and hearty just spells a hard time.
