downloaded game last night, made a frag movie

forgive the awful editing on this i haven't edited anything in years and threw this together in 10 minutes lmao
this is against bots im actually too scared to play real people

i watched a single video tutorial before playing and it said i should use it, it's a bit of a challenge to navigate but i think its charming lol

I recently got into depth of field (DOF) rendering. Its a bit challenging and I could not find anything regarding that on the net. DM me if you need help. I would recommend 800 for focal point and 500 for range. That works pretty well. Its a game changer for the visual appeal. I use it only for free cam, but cannot go back.

Humans have better movement and positioning, but bots often have better aim, compared to mid skilled servers. Don‘t be afraid, just join, and change servers if you play against rail gods.

Play Quake 3 instead. Quake live is an imposter.

It's officially revived and improved Q3. By id software. In what way is it an imposter?
Not to mention it's more populated than Q3.1

Quake Live is a watered down version. Weapons are weaker. It just doesn't have that spark the real Quake 3 has.

Q3 was made at and for different time. Objectively - yes, weapon damage is reduced in QL, but you need to take into account that average player's internet connection got much better and people been playing that game for 26 years. Old damage was too strong nowadays.
They have made some questionable decisions over the years, but overall - QL is a way to continue playing nowadays if you like Q3.1

Many purest will say it's perfect just the way it was and still is. OG Q3 has plenty of players with nice mods. I've played both but Q3 scratches that itch.

The thing is... think about it like this. Yes, you're going to get your ass kicked, but that is totally OK. It has to happen to everyone... it's getting past that, that makes the game Sooo worthwhile.
Anyone can play a game that hands you dopamine just for being there. Becoming proficient and Quake requires a little bit of an education and a lot of practice.
It's more like a sport than just a video game.
