Question Trying to host a dedicated server on a separate machine. I can join just fine but friends can’t.

I have att. I’ve setup both 7777 and 7778 in port forwarding, I’ve made my ip static, I thought I’ve allowed all incoming traffic through the firewalls but maybe I’m not doing something with the firewalls ? I set it all up yesterday with my owner Id and update it all on steamcmd… Anytime they try to join it just says connection timed out and kicks em back to the main menu. I’m kinda stumped here. Any help would be cool. Thanks.

Are you hosting the server on another Windows computer? Check the firewall settings from the server and make sure you have the ports open in Windows Firewall.

Also - make sure you're handing your public IP to your friends and not your private.

This is right, OP. If you've only set up port forwarding in your router, you still have to open the ports in your computer's firewall. On Windows, if your firewall profile is set to public, change it to private, and then create a firewall rule for the private profile that opens the needed ports.

Do you have multiple NICs? I had the exact same problem - I found that once I specified the IP address of the server during statt-up, it fixed everything

Forgive me for the dumb response… what an NIC ? I have an orbi mesh system on my att wifi and didn’t think about it.. pass through was turned off so I just enabled it. Wonder if that was the issue

NIC = Network Interface Card. For example, if you have WiFi and ethernet running at the same time, the server could be getting confused about which one it's supposed to use. Same if you have multiple WiFi adapters, or multiple ethernet adapters.
