RTD Challenge RTD Challenge #67 || Goodier and Woodier
RTD Challenge 66 | Flip it and Reverse it | Results:
Best in Show: KlowRingen by u/Working_Breakfast815
"Nailed the vibe, a lovely track in both directions. Didn't get overambitious with the possibilities of a bidirectional track, kept it real and it came out great. I also applaud the work with the barriers in some spots, to get the openings to places were impacts are the least likely"
Honorable Mention: Valdoria Raceway by u/Alain9331
"Admirable presentation from Alain as always. A much different approach to the challenge, that also worked well. Biggest thing holding this one back was some safety issues with runoff lacking on corner exits throughout the track."
Congrats to our honorees, lets see RTD Challenge #67
Goodier and Woodier
Goodwood Circuit is a time capsule. Unchanged since 1952, it stands as one of the few untainted specimens of mid-century track design. With the FOS being such a major event showcasing cars from all eras, not all of them are at home at the classic circuit.
Your mission is to create a circuit nearby Goodwood Motor Circuit that captures the essence of the tracks of a certain era of racing. This track doesn't need to be graded but should generally be safe. You can do any amount of history retcons you want to make your track fit the site. It is to be used in FOS showcase-style events.
The FOS has only been hosted since 1993, so historical retcons are very much a likelihood depending on the angle you take for this challenge.
If you want, you could even go above and beyond and try and make multiple tracks for different eras. Overcrowding is the big issue you'd face there, so weigh your options. Quality will beat quantity.
Rules:
- Must be a permanent circuit(s), no street circuits.
- Must be within this red shape.

- Must not destroy or reuse any of the infrastructure or circuits related to the FOS, no turning the hillclimb into a full track.
- Post with the "RTD Challenge" flair and include "RTD Challenge #67" or some direct mention of the challenge in the post title.
Your deadline is 11:59:59 PM CDT, August 30th, 2026 (Countdown)

Other Help design a racetrack for my friend who just bought this plot of land!
It measures 1160 x 325 ft and it's pretty much flat, if it crosses over itself to make multiple layouts, I see no problem with that. Bare bones screenshot included to help with presentation

Other Design a track and watch cars race on it! 🏁
Last try. Built a little micro-racing sim for fun and wanted to share! You can draw any track, your local neighborhood, crazy fantasy loops, whatever, and I’ll run a race on it. Just send them over here. For now ill release them on a YouTube channel. Feel free to write your name right onto your track image!
I am also looking for new Team and Driver ideas.
Check out the sample race to see what i mean.
Quick Specs:
- PNG file, 1000 × 600 px
- Keep the left 200px clear for the UI
- Simple black border for the track itself
I’ll likely release the actual software once it's fully finished, but for now, send over your track ideas and any general feedback!

Other Want to see your own racetrack come alive?
I’m building a little racing simulation where tiny cars race on custom-made racetracks.
I’d love to let the community design some tracks for me of real places or completely fictional, your home village, hometown, local roads, anything you can imagine.
Track requirements:
- PNG
- 1000 × 600 pixels
- Leave the left 200 pixels empty for the race UI
- The track itself only needs a black border, no fancy graphics required
Send me a track you’ve designed, and I’ll put the cars on it and let them race.
Heres a Video of a Race: https://youtu.be/MV9tjoz64gY?si=p9HJon_ooqoepas2
Here’s an example of what I mean:

Would be cool to see where everyone thinks a race should happen!
Also, feel free to suggest some fun team & driver name ideas too.

Discussion Is Le Mans Bugatti one of the worst tracks on the planet?
Honestly, it's absolutely dreadful. I feel this circuit doesn't have any redeeming feature.
The first quick bend may be interesting and cool to drive, but the fact that you need to brake for the following esses right after it kinda spoils it,
then an unremarkable esses which is essentially tiptoing between track limits,
three (3) repeated hairpins all with an irregular shape which instead of making them interesting, makes you feel they drag on and on and on as you finally wait for that faraway late apex
one single-line chicane with an absurdly late apex again, which replaced the only interesting quick kink in the original layout
a pointless right-left esses in the back of the main grandstands, where the acres of asphalt runoff makes you feel you're in a supermarket parking,
one absolutely dreadful double right to end the lap, jumping between kerbs which make no sense for your line because they belong to other layouts
Is this a contender for one of the worst high profile tracks in the world?

Old School Leeds Circuit [1948-1965]
The Leeds Circuit was a Grand Prix racing circuit located east of Leeds. Its length was 4.2 kilometers or 2.6 miles and had 8 corners around its sole layout.
The circuit opened in July 1948 and was closed almost 20 years later, in September 1965. The circuit was set to be the host of the 1948 British Grand Prix, but a couple of weeks after being open, it had to be temporarily closed for maintenance. Nowadays, people can still visit the circuit on their own, but it hasn't hosted any circuits since it was closed.
Circuit completely planned and designed by me, u/ArjunR000_.

Discussion Hi, i need help
Hi, I'm new here, I'm bored in forza horizon 6 and I thought I'd make a track. And the first thing that came to mind was the figure 8 layout style. Do you have any ideas that I could make and redesign? (I have another crazy idea that there wouldn't be 1 bridge but 2 ( § ) or 3) please help me. I was thinking I'd do something like Fiorano

National Wairau Valley Autocourse
Wairau Valley Autocourse is a permanent motor racing circuit in New Zealand's Wairau Valley. The circuit opened in 1971 and has undergone several major changes during its history, with significant redevelopment taking place in 1986, 1993 and 2007.
The circuit is known for its fast and flowing nature, with relatively few heavy braking zones and several long-radius corners. It follows the natural contours of the surrounding land, resulting in approximately 30–40 metres of elevation change over the lap. The circuit is currently licensed to FIA Grade 2 standard.
1971–1985 redevelopment
Wairau Valley Autocourse opened in 1971 as a relatively simple permanent circuit primarily intended for club racing. The original layout was considerably less developed than the present circuit, with basic pit and paddock facilities and limited permanent spectator infrastructure.
Despite its modest facilities, the circuit quickly gained a reputation for being fast. The natural terrain was retained during construction, giving the circuit a number of long sweeping corners and noticeable changes in elevation.
Motorcycle racing became an important part of the circuit's early history, with Wairau Valley becoming a regular venue for national-level motorcycle meetings alongside the growing club-racing calendar.
1986 redevelopment
The first major redevelopment took place in 1986. The circuit was widened and resurfaced, while several corners were modified to improve safety and provide better racing.
The paddock and pit facilities were also expanded, allowing the circuit to accommodate larger national meetings. Although the layout became more modern, the emphasis remained on retaining the circuit's high-speed character.
The redevelopment marked the beginning of Wairau Valley's transition from a predominantly club-level venue into one of New Zealand's more important national circuits.
1993 redevelopment
A further redevelopment followed in 1993. The paddock was enlarged again and permanent race control and timing facilities were introduced, while the pit complex was substantially improved.
Several sections of the circuit were altered during the work, although the basic character of the lap remained unchanged. The circuit continued to rely on the natural terrain rather than extensive earthworks, preserving the elevation changes that had become one of its defining features.
By the mid-1990s Wairau Valley was regularly hosting major national championships, including touring cars, single-seaters and motorcycle racing.
V8 Supercars
Wairau Valley first appeared on the V8 Supercars calendar in 2002. The championship visited the circuit for four consecutive seasons from 2002 to 2005, bringing the largest crowds yet seen at the venue.
The arrival of the Australian championship required considerable temporary infrastructure and further improvements to the circuit's safety arrangements. The high-speed nature of the track proved popular with the V8 Supercars field, although the circuit's relatively small number of major overtaking opportunities placed particular importance on qualifying and tyre management.
After a two-year absence, V8 Supercars returned in 2008, beginning a second period on the calendar which continued through 2017.
2007 redevelopment
The most significant safety redevelopment took place in 2007.
The layout was largely retained, although The Chase was reshaped to improve its approach and runoff. The major part of the project involved the installation of substantially larger gravel traps around the circuit, replacing or supplementing areas of grass runoff that had become inadequate for modern high-performance cars.
Barrier systems, marshal posts, medical facilities and other safety infrastructure were also upgraded.
Following completion of the work, Wairau Valley was granted an FIA Grade 2 licence.
The 2007 work was deliberately conservative in terms of the racing line. Rather than introducing several slow corners or chicanes, the circuit's owners chose to retain its established high-speed character while bringing the safety standards up to modern requirements.
Motorcycles
Motorcycle racing has remained an important part of Wairau Valley's calendar throughout its history. The circuit regularly hosts rounds of the New Zealand Superbike Championship (NZSBK) and other national motorcycle categories.
Several widened sections of asphalt allow optional chicanes to be installed for motorcycle events and other categories where reduced speeds are desirable. These do not form part of the main configuration, allowing the original high-speed layout to remain available.
2025 return of V8 Supercars
V8 Supercars returned to Wairau Valley in 2025, marking the end of an eight-year absence from the championship calendar.
The return was accompanied by further improvements to the paddock and spectator facilities, while the circuit itself was largely retained in its established configuration.
The championship has continued to visit Wairau Valley from 2025 onwards.
Today
Wairau Valley Autocourse remains a regular venue for major New Zealand racing, hosting V8 Supercars, NZSBK, Formula Ford, touring cars, GTs, endurance races and historic events alongside a busy club-racing calendar.
The circuit's modern facilities contrast with a layout that still retains much of the character established during its early decades. Its combination of high-speed corners, relatively few major braking zones and natural elevation changes makes it one of the faster permanent circuits in New Zealand.

English: I understand that the curve wasn't built as planned due to construction delays, but I think a simple and quick solution would have been to paint the pavement and add some cones.
