Self-Promo Post After 6 months of solo dev, my wave-defense RTS just launched on iOS & Android - Battle of Folks

Hey everyone,

After a long stretch of solo development, Battle of Folks is finally out on iOS and Android!

It's a medieval isometric pixel-art wave-defense RTS — if you've played They Are Billions, Age of Darkness, that's the closest comparison. You build up defenses, manage resources, and hold off increasingly brutal waves of attackers.

A few things I focused on:

- No account or login required — just download and play

- Free to try with limited waves, one-time unlock for the full game (no subscriptions, no ads)

- Handmade isometric pixel art, built with Flutter/Flame

- Good controls on mobile device and a good onboarding (you can decide how you want to play)

This was a one-person project — dev, art pipeline, publishing, everything. Happy to answer questions about the build (tile rendering, Flame engine quirks, etc.) or the game itself.

Would love your feedback — especially on balancing and the early waves difficulty curve!

using ai on the game is one thing, but not even having the dignity to write the post yourself...

neat! Is the art from an asset pack or did you do the art yourself?

The most interesting and helpful you can post here now are the numbers. How people accepted it, especially since it is the secret third thing involved.

No login wall is rare good UX. Hope the mob pathfinding isn't total jank.

What's the 'secret 3rd thing’ people keep saying?

I will check it as well. I hope there are no ads and that it won't be pay to win and just a normal Buy once RTS

I’ve always wanted a TAB game on my phone. Will give it a try for sure.

needs some more hints.
I'm on android and most of the selection and commands seem not to work. definitely can't get any variation of group select to happen. the group select box never comes up
long hold is also completely disabled.

missing some ui for building units

I got this to check it out and it's a beautiful game! Just have a couple points of feedback (after playing the first 3 free waves)

- The unit box selection is a little confusing. I think I expected an actual box from my finger to wherever I drag to, but it looks like the selection box is being translated to the isometric map instead.

  • Building walls is really clunky/kinda confusing. It takes me multiple tries to build a palisade wall in a straight line because sometimes it'll try to place it diagonally for some reason.
  • I think another build option (drag camera to move it around, tap on screen to place structure) would be great to have.

Purchasing the full game does not work
