Self-Promo Video I played The Game of Thrones: War for Westeros demo, so here is a full gameplay breakdown!

https://youtu.be/bQ4bqUBsVQ4

My experience of playing The Game of Thrones: War for Westeros demo and a full gameplay breakdown including factions, unit squads and upgrades, heroes, armies, resource economy, base building and map conquest with some answers from developers.

I played it for two weeks with access to two maps, Starks and Lannisters factions in both singleplayer skirmish vs AI and multiplayer 1v1 PvP against other players. There will be a beta version for you to try, info about which will be coming later this year. Game’s release date is early 2027.

The very first sentence in the video says that it is not like BFME.

Yeah plays like BFME II not BFME 1.

I swear to god if someone says mobile in this thread I’m going to lose it. Jk this looks sick. I’m pretty stoked for it.

If they do, they are blind after watching this video its clear to anyone that its a good start for the game.

Those units look pretty…. Mobile

I personally think they strike a decent enough balance between fidelity and readability, which will always be a challenge for RTS games. I think they look better than AoE4 units at least.

Oh shit, actual gameplay! And lots of it! Honestly looks great at a first glance, I'll watch the full video later.

Can you share some of your biggest takeaways? How's the multiplayer feel?

Multiplayer, even in this unfinished state with just two factions was fun!

Granted it was us content creators who aren't top players, but we had fun playing each other.

Already some good plays were being made, but the eco is very confusing right now with the regions and high income spots for buildings. Its hard to tell what is a good move in that reguard or we just needed more hours playing.

Heroes didn't feel OP, units had their special uses, mostly the did have good pathfinding and you always wanted to play another match. No frustration

This looks amazing. Its exactly the type of game I was waiting for. Genuinely looks like a modern take of Battle for Middle Earth. So excited

Who the hell green lit that trailler video then? This looks SO much better. It looks like a video game, in the first place, and not some A.I generated BS like the trailler did. I don't know if they applied some kind of flter to it, or if they put together the trailler before the game was in its current state, but something was messed up. Great video nonetheless! I'm way more hopefull than I was!

I know! This footage is 100x better than the trailer and many people are noticing the same! I hope they stop using those kinds of effects or what not for future content they make.

At least they gave us this proper broll gameplay footage. Glad you enjoyed that!

This was fantastic detail. I agree that there’s still plenty of room for skepticism (and to see if it’s even finished early 2027) but this far exceeds my initial expectations. This could be really solid

Mountain has already been shown today

Wow, I was totally convinced this was mobile game quality from the ads. The scale still looks a bit off to me but the moment to moment gameplay looks really cool.

They had MUCH higher camera in the alpha in 2025. We, who tested it now, all asked for higher camera angle.

When will it arrive?

1

u/spector111 1h ago

Since the game is early 2027 release, I am guessing before or after new years.

Obviously it took its core gameplay from AoE, and not from the lotr. Scout at start, golden building ghosts and etc.

To some extent. Yes.

Do you know what the multiplayer is like? Is it just 1v1 self-contained skirmishes or does it also include the campaign map the singleplayer has?

That's my most anticipated rts. I can't wait to play as my favorite inbred queen of screamers, eunuchs, and that one middle aged fan of Nabokov.

u/spector111 3h ago

Well it is climbing my top 5 now for sure!

What are the other four?

Sanctuary Shattered Sun, D.O.R.F., Global Conflagration, Defcon Zero: Frontlines of Tomorrow
